Sunday was another one of those days where our persistence paid off.

I started by inviting myself to Scotts' place for Saturday night. Sunday morning we got up around 6, and drove west towards first chair at Plattekill.

Ski Plattekill

The thing is, the forecast had a chance for snow STARTING late, in the afternoon. Which kind of committed us to skiing all day. Something about taking a long lunch was mumbled at one point, by one of us, I forget who.

In case you haven't noticed, many of my best ski days, feature pics of @Scottski63. Just a heads up, here's another story, with the skier and his now famous helmet and coat combo.

We were first, and sliced the cord on Face and North Face. Then we started exploring, Ridge, Twist Block, Overlook, and Overlook Woods. For some reason we didn't ski Freefall.

The skiing was good, we poked around in the trees a bit. Really Scott did. Often I am gungho for thin cover (not proud of it), but for whatever reason on this day, I just watched in amazement as Scott ferreted out pow turns.

We were still hoping it would snow enough to matter during the day. The forecast called for snow starting at 3pm.

The snow looked closer then that on the radar and at 12:30 it started to snow lightly. At 1pm we took our 'long lunch.' It worked out well. I got a chance to meet Leigh, Plattekill's social media maven. We chatted about all things Plattekill and life.

Then at 2:30 Scott and I headed back out.I was snowing hard at this point and we both felt an inch of new snow had changed the game. Freefall had the best cover all day, and now it was sublime.

We went into the bar to celebrate the day and sing Happy Birthday to Danielle.

I know it's a cliche, but Plattekill is such a real experience, for me. 100% genuine.

That and the fact that it snows there. I like.
