After a cancelled trip to SLC and various holiday/weather-related holdups, Sunday was my inaugural North American turns of the season on what was supposed to be the final day of this more than two-week cold snap. While it's small potatoes compared to up north, people were seeing -12F readings in their cars driving up and by the time I was on the lift at 9:15, it was -6 but at least there was no wind. The place was empty during the first hour; however, a decent crowd eventually turned up. Still, lifts were always ski-on.

As posted, Sunday was Harv's annual birthday "I Want To Buy You A Beer" event so there were nine of us skiing together in the morning. I was the only one not on teleskis; now I know how it feels to ski at Gore.

As befitting the temps, conditions were nice and chalky for the first few hours. The ungroomed was a wee bit stiff in spots but kept getting better as the day went on. The rime-covered branches on several traverses were a nice touch:

A fun day and a pleasure to meet some of the NYSB crowd.
