I'm headed to Plattekill for a mountain ⛰️ race in a couple weeks. Recommendations for restaurants, microbreweries, and used book stores would be appreciated.

Oakleys in Arkville on route 28 has decent pizza and mozzarella sticks. I don’t know about used book stores

Just to the north is the hamlet of Hobart near the town of Stamford. There is a book village there that has seven independent book stores.

Also in Hobart, the Bull and Garland Inn is a highly recommended restaurant with a tavern and rooms to stay overnight.

I haven’t been to the book village but I have been to the Bull and Garland. We were in the tavern and met some women who had come all the way up from Pittsburg for the weekend just to go to the book stores. Apparently it’s a destination.

If you make it over that way, be sure to check out the fire tower on Mt. Utsayantha. You can drive or hike up the service road to some sweet views.

Good luck with your race!

Thanks for the info. No Whiteface Sky Race this year, so this might be the only mountain race that I do.

@Ripitz Bull and Garland appears to be closed. I just had dinner at the Half Acre in Stamford. All locally sourced ingredients, burnished by a pint from West Kill Brewing. Highly recommended.

Headed to Hobart tomorrow for book store exploration.
