Peter Hornbeck: RIP

Peter Hornbeck was quite an innovator. He to a beautiful old design, applied modern materials and methods to it, and produced some beautiful boats. I own one and I can tell you it brings a lot of joy.

Rest in peace Peter.

Iconic Adirondack Boat builder Peter Hornbeck dead at 77

Peter "Pete" Hornbeck, who for almost 50 years ran Hornbeck Boats from a shop on his property in Olmstedville, Died December 26.

I’ve heard of him but never met. Boat design is high art in my opinion.

His boats are really sweet. They track beautifully and are super light. Based on a Rushton design.

I've carried mine MILES into remote ponds. When you get to a place like that and no one else has a boat you can really catch fish.

I know of him, never met him personally. Many of my cousins have boats from him.

definitely beautiful boats, sometimes we stop at Schroon Lake for beers and/or picnic lunch at the the park and a few years ago there was a block party/town 'carnival' going on and one was being raffle off. Unfortunately none of my numbers were picked... RIP brother
