We were headed to the cabin last Friday and Neve wanted to drive (she has her permit). I got her in the drivers seat with a driver switch at the (currently under construction) Plattekill rest area. It was a stormy day, but radar showed a good long break in the action.
North of Albany it started to rain hard and we pulled in at the I_LOVE_NY information stop in Clifton Park, around exit 9. We switched again and headed out.
About 10 miles up the road... "UT OH ... HONEY I don't have my purse. " Zelda was convinced it was lost on one of the driver switches.
We drove to the cabin and called the police. We called two different "Troups" — one for the mid-Hudson Valley and the other for Saratoga County. We made our report and both Troups sent a patrol car to the places we described, as best as we could.
Then we called our bank and paused all our credit cards. We had to keep one active to get home, that's my only card and we share it. (I'm starting to think carrying cash is important again.)
Later that night, BOTH Troops called us back, with no luck. They told us not to give up hope, things are often found.
The next day Neve and I were skiing, and Zelda called. Another trooper, who wasn't aware of our report, found the purse, with the help of a little old lady. He called Z's work, got her cell and called her. Trooper Jeremy agreed to meet us at Scotty's Truckstop at noon on Sunday on our way home to give us our prize.
I was super impressed with all the troopers who helped us.
