Anyone a fan of Renoun skis?

Renoun is starting a membership program for their skis. Can still buy them online direct. The program called RenounPro is for people who like the idea of new skis every 2 years. Enrollment fee is $395 and monthly fee is $30.

Now, instead of going on the Renoun Skis website to purchase a pair of skis and bindings (which they can still do), skiers can instead join RenounPro for $395 plus a monthly membership fee, get their choice of skis at the start (and automatically every 24 months thereafter) and have access to a long list of perks including discounts on other brand partners like TREW, Carv, Bergans, Mavic, and more to come. On top of that, Renoun will swap out your skis for $150 no questions asked whenever you want through their SwapAnytime program. Want to try something different? Just box up your old skis and order a new pair. Renoun will donate the old pair to a charity of your choice."

A friend who is very good at finding bargain skis online, which she re-sells at a profit, dived into the details for Renoun Pro. Apparently a member gets new skis every 24 months, but can trade in at any time for a $150 fee. After the first 24 months are up, the skis are considered paid in full and the member owns them. But if the membership is cancelled before the 24 months are up, then must either return the skis or buy them out. Assuming the membership fee is charged for 24 months, together with the enrollment fee, that makes the cost for the first pair of skis $1155. The program is for skis without bindings, but Renoun offers bindings at a 30% discount. For the $150 trade-in, Renoun wants the skis shipped back flat.

Current prices for Renoun skis run $900-1100 flat. I do know women who love them. But I doubt very much that any are likely to go for a membership program.

I haven't bought new skis since 2017. That pair is what I take out west these days. Demo'd the Stöckli Stormrider 85 for two days at Le Ski Mastery at Taos and took them home. Last pair in my size and it was early February. Got regular bindings, not the demo bindings. There are reasons to fly with a double ski bag, but only pack one pair of skis. :)
