Never snowshoed in my 63 years so I said to the wife, ”let’s give it a try” and she was a trooper gramma.
MWSP has one of the few public luge runs and Olympian Mark Grimmette lived in Muskegon and was involved with its construction.
In addition there are 3-4 different length and challenge snowshoe trails, large ice skating rink, and ice skating trail, and small sledding hill all within Muskegon State Park.
Well the snowshoeing was a great new product the wife and I could enjoy together since she doesn’t ski. They rent snowshoes which fit my large feet and boy do they grip firm melt re freeze snow. Having 155 cm poles were cool for this tall boy. $10 trails pass, $8 rental. They even rent head lamps for night runs.
We started out with a 1.5 km run which took us across the street to see the ice on Lake Michigan.
She wants to do it again so I guess we found our winter bond after almost 40 years together!
