Getting older means less patience for a plane ride. My buddy and I decided not to do our annual trip out West this year. Too many family Covid's and just worn out couldn't take the airport, the plane, the bucks, so we opted for a tour of Southern Vermont ending across the border in Mount Sunapee,

Vermont was was good, but our first trip to Sunapee we really hit a jackpot. Arriving at 8:30 am the lots were already filling but it appeared that they had some fresh or at least no melt at all from the snow squalls earlier in the week. Most of the mountain was nicely groomed which if your pushing 70's is welcome. The place skied like Park City [cue the eye roll]. Long fat trails, somewhat forgiving. Even though it was a crowded day some of the trails seemed almost empty. Temps got up into high twenties and blue bird skies. Now we hit it on a pretty perfect day, as one kid on the lift said about two weeks ago they tried to ski in minus 5 degree weather with 15 mph winds, no thanks. But that said this is a good intermediate mountain, and apparently if they get enough natural has some great tree skiing. All and all for once I wasn't jealous of my Western brothers.

Wise decision JP! Nice you guys had a really good experience , never skied Sunapee but always looked like it might be a decent venue.

Hey being in my late 70's now i agree with your sentiments. We kiddingly call our home venue here in the Northern Dacks, " Medicare Mountain "

where is your home mountain? mine is Hunter but during the week, a diverse combination of oldies, cops, nurses, firefighters, and college kids skipping classes, much different from the weekend Hunter, which I only venture to if my kids need help with the grandkids on the mountain.
