Saturday - I stopped counting at 20 uphill skiers. Looked like an Everest expedition at one point.

I used an Indy day at Mohawk today. It was my first time skiing there, and actually first anywhere in Connecticut. 70th ski area for me by my best estimate.

They had most of their terrain open with pretty good man-made cover. Some natural snow areas were probably skiable but did not tempt me today. The snow was nice, easy carving snow in the morning, becoming a little heavier but still very pleasant by the time I left after 2. There's nothing too steep, and I'd say the top part of Wildwood was the steepest of what was open. But I didn't go there expecting The Rumor or Magician. A lot of the woods between the trails don't look too skiable with a ton of brush and downed branches and tree trunks, with the exception of a good number of little chutes that I would have loved to try if there was just a little better cover. It wasn't busy at all, so I was surprised they had 4 chairs running. I'm not complaining.

It's a little far from me (bit over 2 hours) for what it is, but I liked the place and I could see myself using an Indy day there again (not likely this season).

I rediscovered Mohawk after 35 years a few weeks back. It’s only 35 minutes from me. I’m tired of driving, I may consider a season pass there plus Indy add on for next season.
