I spent the early part of the week in Lake Placid with the family. The original plan was to ski Whiteface, but my dad was looking for a chiller start to the season so we made a plan to ski Mccauley on the way back.
We had a late start to the day out of placid and arrived at the mountain around 1:30pm. The parking lot was pretty emtpy for a holiday and the snow was coming down. We scooped up a $5 dollar 70+ ticket for my dad and a half day for us.
The conditions report showed more open but really there was only challenger, skyride and olympic. Conditions were prime so I was suprised more wasn't open. We took a few cruises down the green before checking out the bumps on Skyride. We pretty much skiied onto the lift the whole time until 4pm rolled around.
Content with our start to the season we packed up and headed back to utica. The mountain got 5 to 6 inches total and I am sure is in even better shape today
