Ski Day 18: Much of the time, my approach to skiing Gore is to hit the summit as soon as it opens, ski it hard, and then take the late morning / early afternoon on the lower mountain. Yesterday's interconnect ski day was contrary to that approach, and it was really refreshing.
Today, with half a day to ski, I was in to mood to, again, be different.
I skied the lower mountain in the morning...
Sunway
...sought out lower angles on the East and the North Sides...
Otter Slide
Showcase
And with some hunting, I found some good skiing on the Dark Side.
I noticed that Lower Steilhang was officially open and it held the best snow of the day.
Lower Steilhang
Somewhere on the Dark Side
I ended the day doing laps on Sagamore with Suds.
I never skied the the Straightbrook Chair or Bear Mountain, and again didn't ride the Gondola.
It seems quite likely that the week is going to bring significant snowfall to much of the northeast. If Gore gets a foot of snow, I think we'll see Gore at it's best, by the end of the week.
