Needed a change of pace and Junior has been back at school the last couple weeks so I figured we could meet in the middle and get a day in at Gore. I couldn’t convince him to ski in the rain on Saturday morning so we agreed on Sunday. I wasn’t in a big hurry but we ended up on the snow by 9:20 or so. Junior got in a run before I arrived. We went up the gondola, then went exploring a little.
As expected the bottom half of the hill softened up first but we found Open Pit and Hawkeye to be in good shape by Mid morning too. It was a gorgeous day- we could see for miles- though it was windy in certain spots.
We weren’t really on a mission or anything, just bouncing around from one pod to another, skiing different stuff. Even the firm stuff skied well where the groomers had done their work. Lies and Rumor were closed on our first couple trips up top.
It was not crowded.
We went back down to the base for lunch. The snow was really softening up on Showcase and Quicksilver by then.
Lies eventually opened, not sure about Rumor
That’s it. Turned out to be a great day.
