Is the biathlon portion of the World University Games still on in light of the recent gun control law passed in July? Note: I don't want a debate on the Second Amendment or gun control. I am genuinely curious about what ORDA intends to do since I didn't see an exception for biathlon provided in the new law.

It's only for conceal carry
Long guns will be fine
NYS needs to clean this debacle up

Unfortunately the text of the law specifically states that a firearm, rifle, or shotgun is illegal to possess at every sporting event (which is now classified as a "sensitive location"). Every skier will be facing the potential of a class E felony!

At maximum that would be 1 and one-third to four year sentence in state prison plus a fine of $5,000, $300 mandatory surcharge, a crime victim assistance fee of $25, and a $50 DNA databank fee (and you have to submit a DNA sample).

Yea you guys act like tree skiing is so hard.

Try getting shot at, or having to ski and shoot another skier!

FISU said this month it’s hosting biathalon, so there’s that.
Maybe they can move it to Vermont if folks bitch...

The world’s largest multi-sport winter competition outside of the Olympic Winter Games, the FISU Games include the nine compulsory sports of alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle and freeski, ice hockey, short track speed skating, and snowboarding. Hosts can also add up to three optional sports, which for Lake Placid will be speed skating, Nordic combined, and ski jumping.
