I'm driving from North Creek to Potsdam tomorrow afternoon and I'm a little concerned about the weather. My usual route was Indian Lake> Long Lake > Blue Mountain Lake, but if road conditions are bad I have enough time to head west to Rt 30, or north through Lake Placid. LP os probably not not better, but what about Rt 30 or other routes?

Thanks for any advice.

Milo, I live north of Potsdam we had 2-3 inches overnight. I'll be in Potsdam this morning the roads will be fine. In my experience rt3 and 56 from Tupper to Potsdam is just as clear as rt 30. Plus its a lot shorter. Good luck

Milo i live on the River and here in NNY th eroute you selected is well kept.

I travelled weekly to Albany for years when we were building our campus and then later made made frequent trips to the Capitol for business. The roads then were mostly ok , but today i think the DOT and towns do a fine job of keeping our main roads open . Its a North Country Thing and as 3 dogs said our overnite accumulation was modest and lite.

Wait what? I’m gonna need luck to do this drive?

Also, Gore is good today. People are ducking ropes everywhere. Bark eater was the best. Boreas was open too. Most of the other glades were closed but lots of poaching everywhere.

I did this drive every time I went to Gore when I was in college. 28-30-3-56. It's all state roads, so they're regularly plowed, and I've never had an issue making the trip, even if it might take longer than usual. Cell service is spotty in places, so just be aware of that. Also, the only gas station between Tupper Lake and Potsdam has limited hours, so make sure you fill up in Tupper Lake for the last 50 miles.

You're trip reminds me of a day trip 4 of my friend's and me made a century ago. We left home at 6am and made it Gore about 9, skied all day had as couple at the lodge and left around 4:30 pm stopped at every small town bar on the way home had dinner at the hotel on the end of Long lake (great food), last place we stopped was Maxfields in Potsdam made it home around midnight. We were young and dumb would like to think I'm smarter now but just older
