Front of the boot, no matter what. YMMV.Walk, is for walking.
Ski, is for skiing.
Ski in walk mode? not smart.
I tried it. By accident. Not pleasant. Uggg.
Has to be particular boots. The first boots I bought were recreational boots designed to be comfortable for beginners with a flex of something like 60 or 70. Had a Walk/Ski switch on the back of the cuff. In Walk mode, the cuff was essentially cracked open so standing completely upright was possible..What is this? A setting on the boot that can be changed?

I skied in Walk mode more than once after lunch when dealing with kids under age 8. Didn't matter much since I was skiing blue groomers at Massanutten. Later on I learned the advantages of doing a few runs with loose boots as a drill to check fore/aft balance.
Being able to ski well in loose boots is related to the earlier comment about "front of the boot, no matter what."Interesting
What year was that?I skied hut to hut in Colorado. The guides cut all the buckles off their boots except the bottom buckle. The never used them (when they were guiding us) so they did it to save weight.
