I got huge Snap-On tree lopers for $3 and endless USA hand tools for $1-3. Estatesales.net lists sales in various areas- with pictures, so you have some kind of idea and can avoid the ones that are all glassware. Not everywhere seems to use this website, but those that do list a lot of sales.
