The forecast for Thursday into Friday was 2-3 inches in Metro Detroit and 4-8 in Cadillac,Mi, while not the 14 inches Plattekill had the other day, our Michigan hills actually do very well with an 8-10 inches snowfall, the drive home from work on Thursday started out promising

So I set my alarm for 4am to make what is normally a 3.5 hr drive. I woke up and the snow in metro Detroit had stopped and they got around 3 inches. Looked at radar and the Lake Michigan snow machine was in full force so I knew most of the drive was going to be touch and go with snow.

It took about an extra hour and I can say a Subaru Crosstrek and new tires are a wonderful thing. Caberfae had reported at 7am 5 inches of new snow, by the time we rolled in at 9:45 it was more like 8 inches and still snowing.

it was cold (14 degrees) and windy, but luckily the hill blocked most of the wind at the base and it wasn’t until you got to the top did the wind kick in. The top of either peak was wind blown and icy, but after 50-100 feet you went into pure Lake Michigan powder

It was great not hearing any groomed snow under your feet once you got going and the feeling of just floating on top of the snow. Most of the main runs were skied out by the end of the day, you could still find all kinds of powder stashes on the edges and in and around the the lines of snow guns and under the lift lines all day

I have to say my Liberty Origin 96’s really shined today.

While still not a “Powder Daze” it was still a great day and of you couldn’t have fun today then you shouldn’t be skiing. As my buddy who came with me said “we made a mountain out of a molehill today”. Anytime you can get 10,000 feet of powder in Michigan it’s a good thing.

It’s great to see everybody getting good snow this year. Knock on wood.

32 mph in knee deep snow on a 500ft Michigan bump is indeed impressive. Looks like a great day.

My brother from a different mother!

That looks incredible.

I agree AWD and new tires rock.

Are those tele skis?

Harvey yes they are. My buddy is a tele skier. I told him he need to come with me to Platty and he would fit right in

My buddy is a tele skier.

So both pairs are liberty. For a minute there I thought you had come over to the dark side!

He got me to try Liberty skis. If his boots fit I would give tele skiing a try, but they are too big for me
