Earlier this week Caberfae had gotten rain and freezing rain then a hard cold. On Friday they got 4”-5” of new snow, but the reports on social media was very hard pack with a little powder on top. So I wasn’t expecting much for conditions. I am happy to say there was a nice packed powder with only a few icy spots mainly where lots of turns are made like the crossover from North Peak to South Peak or areas that don’t get groomed.
We made a handful of end and went in for what had to be one of the best very simple but delicious bloody Mary’s you can get. The fresh horseradish is just one of the things that make it delicious
It seems like the crowds are a little less than last season, but some of that may be that inMichigan you can into the lodge and eat with no restrictions which is helping with the lift lines. Either way it’s nice to not have to wait in such a long line on the weekends.
This was first day that the weather was nice enough to tailgate for lunch. Normally we would have had My buddy’s pickup truck and truck camper, but since he hasn’t found a replacement camper yet we tailgates out of the back of my Subaru.Venison brawts were on the menu and delicious
We ended up skiing 30 runs for the day. I even ran into a guy who saw my Plattekill sticker on my ski box and he thought he was the only one who knew about Plattekill in Michigan. He hadn’t skied there in over 20 years and assumed it probably had closed by now. I was happy to tell him that no they are open and he is going back to NY next month and he will probably go to Plattekill now.
