Well after going back to NY and skiing at Gore a little over a week ago I was wondering if I will be bored on a 400’ hill. Let’s just say it was like putting in an old pair shoes. Last week when we had the cold snap here Caberfae had blown snow for 65 hours non stop in a number of select areas and it shows with the base they have down. Also they got very little rain with the last storm and got around 2.5” of a wet heavy snow.
It was 18 degrees out when we arrived, but it was going to be sunny with a high of 40. I was worried the snow would be rock hard in a the morning and instead it was just hard packed and getting nicer with each run as the sun did it’s magic
The runs are a decent length for lower Michigan but they can get crowded quickly on a Saturday and for some reason on a blue sky day there just wasn't a lot of people there today.
We made a number of runs until 1 o'clock or and it was time for lunch and one of the best parts of Caberfae is they allow you to tailgate for lunch. They only thing they ask is clean up after your self and if you use a charcoal grill do not empty the ashes into the parking lot.
I even brought back a little NY with me.
The winds had picked up and after lunch they had to close the South Peak down, which I know it doesn't look like munch but because it is more for advanced skiers it tends to have a better and more predictable flow. I also like the the 39 year old Riblet triple chair, they take such good care of the lift that you would have no idea that it is that old.
In the end it was another great Dad and daughter day and we were joined by a good friend of mine that helped us make a mountain out of a molehill
