Finished up my spring Midwest Indy plus other areas nine day, 1800 mile tour by meeting fellow comrad Ted ( Mi skier) and buddy Jimmy D and wife Michelle at our “home base “ of Caberfae. Spring rains held off the spring carnival hordes, only the diehards out at opening bell.
Last day to ride the repositioned from ‘67 Shelter Hall non center pole in preparation for a brand spanking new Dopp triple. Part owner Tim Meyer was walking the hill with snow makers in preparation for next year.
While waiting for the crew I skied north peak, reminisced the Shelter and other sister Hall double removed ( towers still in) about 6 years back when the 1561’ new Dopp triple went in.. rode the 3-4 year old green flyer
carpet with memories of my grandson Carter taking his first ever lesson in ‘04 on a rope tow.
About an hour in Ted and I were ready to reunite after a 2 year sabbatical I spent sitting out the world affairs. Ted was ripping his Michigan made Shaggy fat boards past the girthy gramps on his short 184s from the new millennium in desperate need of an upgrade.
We then got word Jimmy D was ready to knee bend his liberty tele boards
and a highly unusual situation took place of a release and the case of the missing ski in the pines. We even had a nice parol gal assist. Eventually ski was found after a lengthy search and the three amigos were back at it.
First Lady Michelle arrived to the party ready to indulge in some fine spring skiing now that the rains let up
We made several runs on both peaks and the decision was made to partake in the customary Arlo’s Bloody Mary and fries party.
Since it was mid afternoon at this point and I had not seen mama in nine days we said our goodbyes after a great first and final day together.
