Given how the East-Coast season started early, my Day 1 during the second week of December felt late this year. I took the morning flight from Newark and was able to get in more than 2.5 hours at what's become a traditional arrival-day stop in the Cottonwoods. Brighton:

At baggage claim, another skier from my flight with a 1970s subway graffiti bag -- mine (with two pairs of skis and most of my clothes) is on the left:

We started out on the Crest and Snake Creek lifts in the middle. The day before, a blustery storm dropped seven or eight inches, which freshened up things nicely. As always, I like the twisty, rolling EC-like trails there. Bright sunshine but looong shadows due to the time of year. By the time we made it over to the Millicent lift at 2:45, most of that sector was in the shade.

Boarders are still Brighton's predominant demographic:

In short: a really pleasant day with the only downside that the Great Western lift (most people's preferred terrain pod at Brighton) wasn't operating.
