I just started using Zwift and I LOVE it! It’s such a blast and an excellent workout even with my cheapo setup (Dumb fluid trainer, road bike, Iphone, Ipad, Wahoo speed and cadence sensors). Problem is I only know 2 people on Zwift. Anyone here on Zwift?

No but the alternative to skiing thread really has me thinking about it ... one of the main reasons I love skiing and biking so much is the connection to nature / outdoors so it would be a last resort

i'm looking into buying a trainer.. any suggestions? i would like one that can be used with 2 different bikes....

I just did my first ride last night. It’s cool to have a virtual outdoor riding environment that’s got daylight when it’s dark in NY. The scenery is cool and it’s easy to get motivated to do intervals if you like chasing people down on a bike. I wanted to stay on the bike longer than my 7 mile ride last night but my arm started cramping up and I couldn’t take anymore. I think it’s definitely a great way to get fit in prep for ski season or on weeknights after work when you can’t ski.

How much do you wanna spend and how coordinated are you? The easiest and cheapest version would be to get a classic set of rollers and then add the wahoo speed and cadence sensors. Switching out bikes will be super easy. But rollers can be tricky. After that a wheel on trainer would be pretty easy to switch out with different bikes. A wheel off trainer might be a little more challenging but not hard. A couple minutes to switch it. The smart trainers are definitely more expensive but have cool features.

Supported trainers are listed here

However I am enjoying my rides using an unsupported trainer for now. I just selected “not listed” when setting it up.

@jasonwx - Other factors to consider are whether or not you want to use a mountain bike or road bike. With a wheel on trainer or rollers you need to have a slick tire. If you get a direct drive wheel off Trainer you don’t need a special tire (Or dedicated wheel with slick tire). That may be more convenient if you are using a mountain bike with knobby tires Or using the same bike on the road one day and on a trainer the next day.
