Who’s got a backup plan in case we get back to a PAUSE order type situation?

I am trying to Zwift-ify my old dumb fluid trainer and road bike. What are you doing?

Death? ?‍♂️ :)

100% kidding.

If Benny is correct and I'll be able to get into NY, I won't stop. From our place in North River we can access 100,000 acres of wilderness that is laced with marked and unmarked backcountry ski trails. I started skiing at age 30 and didn't riding a lift until I was 40. It was really having a child that pushed us more to lift-served, it's just easier when you have a little one.

This map shows about 10% of the backcountry we can access without a car. That trail that goes off the lower left leads to limitless possibilities.

Honestly I actually don't see to much need to go beyond this map. If what you are saying happens, I'd be much more content skiing the BC than riding a bike (in winter). We've actually got some skiing on our own property too.

Great idea for a thread @NYSnowflake .

I agree awesome thread
I hope after election things will change
My alternative road biking
Maybe winter hiking at Lake Minnewaska

I have a back country setup so I can get after it. I also can snowshoe and cross country ski outside my backdoor. The X factor is cold , no snow. If that happens I’m in trouble. Can’t ski or golf. That leaves drinking.

Once there is snow, I have some very old CCM xc skis that were made in “The German Democratic Republic”! ? I can use those or my new AT setup... but I broke my shoulder on my MTB in September so I have a lot more rehab to do before I have full use of my left arm again... so it’s PT, indoor bike trainer, elliptical, or hiking until then. I’m not averse to biking in the cold if there’s no snow or ice and it’s above 30°. But I need my arm again for that as well.

I’m fascinated by ice fishing.
As a purveyor of booze, you would be most welcome in the average ice fishing shack.

As for me the loss of lift skiing would not be a big blow. Like Harvey, I have lots of skiable BC terrain out the back door or a short drive away. Unlike Harvey, I live here so don't have to commute. The Hinterlands will abide.
