So one of of the things you can buy in Michigan is a punch card for 31 ski areas that is a fund raiser for the adaptive ski program of Michigan. So for Christmas for the past few years I have bought the White Gold card for myself and my Daughter Megan.
We started out the first of 5 days skiing at Crystal Mtn. It’s around a 3.5 hrs drive from Ypsilanti,Mi so we left on Tuesday Feb. 23rd and made the drive. We got our passes and found a parking spot right by one of there lifts. We booted up at the car, which you have to do in Michigan this season and were on the lift by 10:30 with sunshine and no wind and a forecasted temp of 40ish. The snow was soft, but still firm enough to be enjoyable.
With all the restrictions, tailgating for lunch has become the norm. With a temp of 45 and sun it was very pleasant
We skied until around 4pm. Crystal had lots of runs but they are very short, but it was still a great way to start our Tour of the Mitten
After we were done skis Int we made the 2 hr drive to Boyne Mtn were I found a 1 bedroom, with a pull out couch, condo on Airbnb for $83 a night with all the fees.
The plan was to ski Boyne Mtn on day 2, but looking at the forecast Nubs Nob was under a winter weather advisory for 3-6 inches of snow and was only 30 mins north. So we made the decision to go to Nubs on Wednesday. We woke up in Wednesday morning and at Boyne the got a dusting of sleet and about 25 mins into our 30min drive everything had changed to snow
We had made the right choice. There was 4-6 inches of new snow and it was still snowing. Although it wasn’t powder due to being 30 degrees it was still soft and I could still get some floating feeling once you got some speed up
It continued to snow until 1:30-2 and they ended up with around 8 and niches of new snow.
By around 3:30-4 things were getting bumpy do to the snow not being a true powder. Well in true Nubs Nob fashion and being know for the best snow and grooming in Michigan and the Midwest they brought out the groomers and we got to ski fresh groomed runs for the next 1.5 hrs
We got the best of both worlds. New snow in the morning and new corduroy in the afternoon.

5 Day Tour of The MI Mitten 2/23-2/27/21 Part 2
Day 3 took is to Boyne Mtn. The Morning was cold around 15 degrees and a high of 30. We got the best parking spot you can get. About 200 feet or so from the Meadows lift. So I set up for the day. The snow was firm, but you could get an edge in and it was very fast. Boyne Mtn is not my...
