22-23 Frequent Skier Card Prices

I was looking at maybe hitting Gore today, and noticed that something is up with the pricing on my FSC:

Regular lift tickets were $71 but for some reason my discount card (that I paid $59 for… without a “free” ticket) wanted to charge me $82. If I were less civil, I’d say WTF, so WTF? Same thing for Whiteface, just more expensive.

Is anyone else having similar issues, or am I the only one getting stressed out about this issue?

Update: I didn’t realize it gives a discount off of the full price ticket only, not off of any discounted pricing. Seems silly, but whatever. I guess I understand? (It would obviously be a more attractive product if there was a discount on the early/late season prices.) At a bare minimum, isn’t one of the points of reusing RFID cards cutting down on waste?

I was just looking at going out with my boys next weekend and noticed that the pricing for FSC is literally just $5 less than the regular adult lift tickets without a RFID card… doesn’t get much better after that ($10-12).

If this is how much of a discount I get by plunking down $59 to reuse my card from last year, I doubt I’ll be purchasing this product again. Doesn’t really look like 25% and 50% off.

Hot take: FSC without a free ticket sucks.

I think I broke even on my season pass the last two years, got maybe 10 or 12 days at Gore.

Last year the FSC, for my daughter, was about guaranteeing access at peak times, the only times she skis.

For me, it's about direct to lift, as much as anything. Nothing worse than showing up at Gore on a powder day without a ticket in hand. TBH, on a regular day, it's not great either.

I can’t argue with the guaranteed access, especially if you don’t know in advance when your days may fall. I just don’t like the economics of this year’s FSC. At least with a blackout-free ticket to redeem it paid for itself before. Saving $5 here and $10 there is only worth it to me if you go more than I can get out there.

Love the mountain (and WF!), just regretting the money down for myself and my 9 year old when we can only get out there 5-6 times a year and he already has two paid for with the SkiNY Passport.

Seems the “dynamic” pricing affects how much difference a FSC makes.
FSC get 50% off “full” price weekdays 25% weekends/holidays.
Friday's appear to be higher than other midweek days’ “dynamic” prices...

We've been getting FSCs mostly so that we all can ski holidays together. It's lame that they discount from the full price and not the real daily price, but the price saving was not really part of it for us anyway. We passed this year because some of my family didn't get any ORDA pass, so the guaranteed holiday access wasn't important anymore.

In other news, IKON passes include 10 friends and family tickets at 25% discount from window rates. I checked Windham prices and they only discount form the top window price, so the buddy ticket is more than the window rate almost every day except Xmas week. I didn't think that was what I bought, but here we are.

Yep, that's the general approach for Ikon F&F at Partner resorts. I imagine that's a decision that was made by the Partners. All of them want to make sure that Ikon doesn't result in too many people at busy times. I would guess that a resort ends up with more money if someone buys an online advanced lift ticket directly from the resort. That turned out to be the best deal for my friends who skied Alta last April who didn't have Ikon.

I was just looking at their lift ticket window rates, and noticed that they publish an early/late season rate online. Perhaps if they offered the discount from those prices during the actual early/late season it would make more sense to me.
