What is your favorite ski area close to ALB?

Got excited - thought ALB was referring to Alberta.. Was getting ready to drop into a Kicking Horse/Fernie thing...

    Mountain Safety and Avalanche Awareness

Any time I'm in avalanche country (in our out of bounds) - I'm wearing a transceiver and I give my extra to my ski buddy. On at the car - off at the bar...

So I've driven both mountain roads this week(Platt Clove and 23A) 23A literally has no parking signs every 30 damn feet.... uuuug... Platt Clove has big signs in both directions(see the picture posted), saying no parking for 1.5 miles which is the length of the road. Also has scattered no...

I love in the Northeast to support my Mother when she needs me. Until she doesn't - I stay 3 hours north of her. Hunter is actually a chill place to love - close enough to NYC to work my cyber security jobs and play music gigs. Affordable housing and low taxes compared to other places...

It's both Platte Clove AND the 23a mountain road. 23a would be the biggest issue because it's really the way to get people off the mountain for emergencies. I've heard of ambulances backed up because of people double parking for pickups etc... This has become a public safety issue for us...

Nothing to do with Vail. Nothing to do with snow(except entitled idiots that ski) It has everything to do with public safety. We warned people for years and ticketed - now it's time to take action. Obey the signs or get towed - it's so simple. I never got a ticket at our place in...

Also imagine if one of those people that were so upset actually GOT hurt and had to call for help but there was no place for rescue workers to park? What about that? This is about public safety - not sucking up to people who don't obey posted signs

Turns out people are visiting - Sean does a great job up here in spite of people like you and crap journalism from the Times union. He's keeping us safe up here. Keeping the roads open so we can take our people down the mountain in ambulances without worrying about getting stuck because...

    Hunter news

Not sure. I read signs.. :) In fact the signs are fine - the guy in the article is spouting BS. 25 people stranded together? Really? And who takes a diabetic kid on a big hike like that? Dude is a liar - trying to make us look bad because he can't take responsibility for himself. And all the...

I never saw anything to show they were doing that. I've driven past a few times and there's no signs of construction. I'm a watch what they do - not what people say person

It's obvious.. And it's been a long time coming. illegal parking is dangerous. I hope they all get towed.

    Hunter news

I agree with the towing - there's signs everywhere. People parking on the mountain road is dangerous. I know people that work on the rescue squad and they hate the parking issues. They've had to block the entire road with their rigs because people park on the horseshoe curve for a rescue...

Hope you're OK. After Irene I keep a closer eye on this stuff. :) The Schoharie creek is in pretty good shape now. It got pretty high - there's an old mile race by me that doesn't really get much water. It was flowing fast. Friends off the mountain are having some road flooding issues.

I'm don't need you to say "Sorry" - but thanks for the sentiment. I like Hunter. I like the riding and the terrain. I like living here next to the creek. I like the house I live in I like my friends that live in town. I like how the town is getting more diverse and accepting. I like the...

I'll be buying and Epic local pass again. Hoping to get out to Japan and use it next winter. I love the flexibility of slipping out for some quick lunchtime turns at Hunter - like today. :) Hoping the Vail thing keeps increasing my property value. If they build on the North Area - I can...
