Hey I thought this thread was for Gore snow conditions?? Yesterday it was very icy/boilerplate in most places. It was a sheet of ice getting off adk express and going toward saddle lodge. Snow was nice on Twin Fawns, and Sagamore was ok. The rest was survival skiing. The winds were also brutal!

Thanks for the updates! I’m kind of glad I canceled my hotel for this weekend.

What kind of dog is Doc? I hear woodchucks can be pretty nasty because they have very sharp teeth and claws. My vet friend says dogs have showed up at the vets office needing a lot of stitches after wrangling with a woodchuck. Nonetheless, Moxie has made short work of a few of them as well!

We laugh but it’s actually pretty scary. I have PTSD from breaking up unexpected dog fights. She gives no warning. She ignores the other dogs until they do something that pisses her off then she immediately goes in for the kill. I don’t take her on play dates.

She loves mountains @saratogahalfday but doesn’t go berserk at the sight of them.

She is not barky at all. She’s chill in the car. Would probably sleep or just look out the window. She’s 13 and has no F$&@!s left to give LOL

She’s amazing with people and horses. She’s an unpredictable and vicious bitch with other dogs and kills small and medium sized animals

She doesn’t like socializing with other dogs. She would not pass the daycare behavioral test. We would be stopping at Gore before heading to a hotel At Whiteface.

It was kind of hard to tell what trails were actually opened or closed out there today. A lot of the ropes had been kind of smashed down by folks skiing over top of them. I couldn’t tell if they were closed and were just being poached or if they were roped off and just had a small open entry...

Awesome afternoon skiing at Gore today! Big light fluffy bumps on Hawkeye and Chatiemac. Upper Steilhang and Hullabaloo had a mix of soft bumps and exposed ice and rock. Lower Darby looked so totally wind scoured I didn’t dare check it out. The wind was howling up there in several spots and all...

If you can learn to carve/slice through the mush you will struggle lesser with fast>slow>fast>slow snow conditions that can make you fall. Flat skiing in choppy mashed potatoes is very hard.

Who wants to take some runs with me tomorrow (Thursday)? I will be arriving a little before 1pm. I have to work in the AM.

I have never left my dog in the car while I’ve gone skiing before. However, Friday looks like a day where I may need to give that a try. I do see lots of people in parking lots with dogs in their trucks or SUVs. Do I have to worry about some crazy person breaking my window or calling the police...

There’s a movie theater in Lake Placid. There’s also the North Pole, although I’m not totally sure if it’s open this time of year.

I have a friend who doesn’t ski much, she likes going to the spas in Lake Placid.

Definitely. Ski, eat, sleep, repeat. Will be hard not to party aprés though!
