This is indeed good news! I wonder if they never installed the new water pumps in the East Pumphouse last year per their press release (see below), as they had a similar announcement for the 22-23 ski season...

    Greek Peak Conditions

This is the ad that Ski CNY is running. It may appeal to larger families, but Greek Peak is a far superior hill than Lab and Song. We are likely purchasing Epic passes again this year, but probably won't spend the money on Ikon passes, as we also did this year. That was a bit of a waste.

They may still have the old pony lift from the Alpa tubing hill in a shed somewhere.

Yeah, like most things, new designs and technology will prolong life, unless planned obsolescence is part of the equation. What have you read in terms of life expectancy on hew high-speed lifts? I'd be curious what their expected life expectancy is projected to be from the original installations?

You would know better than me with your heavy equipment background. That's a bit out of my toolshed. I just thought the statistic was interesting, as you can keep anything going forever as long as you maintain it. Chris Diamond spent his career in the ski industry starting with Preston Smith at...

    Greek Peak Conditions

I read an article a number of years ago by Chris Diamond that mentioned the lifespan of 15-25 years, which jumped out at me, as many lifts are well beyond that age. When lifts get to be about 25 to 30 years old, the cost of replacing all the fatiguing components, including the chairs and grips...

With respect to Camp's question about which lift to replace first, I haven't a clue, as I don't know which lift is in the worst condition. But, as I read through some of the posts, I do like the idea of one day relocating chair 2 back to where it was originally installed. This would give...

The pay-as-you-go approach is fine for many businesses, but Greek Peak is looking at a few million dollars for a basic lift. I'm not sure that the lifts have many more years of life left in them, as the lifespan of a chairlift is 15-25 years.

Why must every comment from you be a jab? Do you get a thrill out of picking on people-especially women? It's ok to disagree with people, as they don't all have to agree with you. Just be kind. We get it. You love Greek Peak and Virgil. I have a feeling that what you like about it was growing...

So chair 2 broke last season and again this season because the previous owners spent $50M on Hope Lake Lodge? The new owners owned the resort for 10 years and didn’t pay anywhere near $50M for the ENTIRE resort.

Some friends who skied Greek Peak today texted me and said they had to be evacuated around 2:00 from chair 2. I don't know the details, as I haven't spoken with them.

We too refer to it as Ronnie's Run--off of the "yellow chair", but never heard who it was named after. Do you know who Ronnie was?

I guess I should clarify. I'm not certain what Vail's internal systems are, but we chatted with Bobby Murphy (G.M. at Stowe) and he said that he is responsible for the bottom line at Stowe, including any capital expenditures. In other words, any new lifts, snowmaking improvements, etc. hit his...
