You seem to want some place that's not like Gore. Why don't you go ski at one of those myriad 'resort type' places instead of insisting that Gore become something like everywhere else you like? Have you approached Disney about building a year-round indoor ski area on Cape Cod? Just my opinion...
Also, I don't think inches of snow is a good metric if they all melt away the next day. Inches of snow that stick around for a month would be a better indicator. Just sayin'. ;-)

The legend I heard was that MRG was among the first places that allowed snowboards, but they had to stop letting them ride the single chair as the boarders were derailing the cable from the top bullwheel upon dismount, due to the push-off required (there's no down ramp at the top of the single)...
Keep your skis well waxed, scraped, structured for best performance in wet conditions (good wax job keeps your skis sliding predictably/helps prevent sticking). If that's not possible, carry some of this and apply as needed...
