"Finish your turns"... I wish. I also post on Skitalk and they are all over me for skiing on weak, short skis. They are saying my 163cm Rossignol Pursuit 200 (2019) skis are simply not right for a 5'11" 205 pound guy... even an old guy like me. Yet, 2 ski shops locally still say the length is...

Bellerye would be a trek for me. Royal Mountain has been suggested as an option with a beginner area. Oak Mountain is near Gore but I know nothing about it. Locally West Mt will offer some mid week skiing probably by the first week in January. They did a 'soft' opening this weekend. They posted...

I sometimes have mixed feelings about Gore. But it sure is nice to have a mountain you can depend upon to have skiing and boarding weeks before the holiday crunch! And the Frequent Skier card for long retired guys like myself is quite the amazing value. Mid Week whole mountain for $25, wow...

My confidence and skill level are quite low after the loose boot fiasco last Saturday. So I am hoping Gore opens the conveyors at the bottom of the mountain on Friday. Probably no kid or adult lesson scheduled so they might leave it closed? I want to check out new boots, build some confidence...

I might beat Santa to it.... I was originally looking at Alpina X5... rented wrong size BUT was the 60 Flex also too soft ? I now am considering Dabello Veloce 75 Max a size smaller Or even the same model (?) MX 75 from last year. Have not skied them but did get to try them on at local shop.

I was there as well. It has been a while since I was last there. Lodge improvements were helpful. Love the multiple wire racks to store bags. Huge improvement over having bags stuffed on and under tables, etc like many other resorts. There were certainly people there so the demand is great for...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

I'm selfishly hoping they open up some of that promised easier terrain Friday. Fingers-crossed. Saturday looks okay but I'm an hour south and our forecast is for a 60 degrees day on Sunday! Speaking of 'easier' which trail off Sunway would get me down to Gondola easiest? Quicksilver or 3b ? So...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

From the base cam you can see two lifts running and people skiing and boarding. But you can see the snow is thinning at the base. No evidence of snow coming down, maybe rain? Hopefully someone actual there will give a quick up late at lunch? After my 20 year layoff I really wanted some of the...

    New Member Intro

Returning to skiing after a 20 year layoff. Kids grew up and moved away. Our daughter moved to Oregon. Skied all the big mountains. Slept in her Honda Element to be first on the lifts. Spoiled by powder skiing. Moved back to NYS and hated East Coast skiing. BUT then our grandson wanted to...
