    Whiteface Conditions

I am pretty sure the open or closed gate will make my decision for me. I might call on the way up as well. Only one Whiteface web cam operating today so that gave me little help. Gore web cams looked like a ghost town. But I do think the old gondolas had been pulled. BTW the 2nd base area (Bear...

    Whiteface Conditions

Thank you. Kind of what I expected. They have more important work to do than watching me so I don't get in the way.

    Whiteface Conditions

I am visiting Lake Placid and Saranac Lake mid week. I have never visited the facility at Whiteface. I realize it will not be open for activities, or shopping, or food. But will it be possible to drive into the facility? Just to do a drive thru? I normally venture no further north than Gore BUT...

    Too Early to Tune?

Dropped them off yesterday at Sports Page. Now I just have to hope Look Xpress 10 bindings are still okay to be serviced. Like in ALL sports, you begin to wonder... would newer equipment be worth the investment. At age 75 I just smile... and doubt it. Be happy with what I have.

    Too Early to Tune?

I do not expect my season to start until the 2nd week of December. Is 2 months out, too early to get a wax, sharpen, and binding test? Feels a bit early but .....

    Not a Boot Backpack person...

I learned a lot in my return to skiing last year. For example I had forgotten how much effort it takes to get your equipment to the lodge. Bought one of the popular boot backpacks. Liked it BUT struggled getting in and out of the straps all season long. I frequently ski alone, so no buddy or...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Thank you for the season of photos.... These end of season photos make me want to up my game for next year. As a lower mountain trail skier at age 75 I now realize I shorten my season by not going up mountain. My Season Pass is already bought and used twice. See you in 2024-25.

    West Mountain Conditions

They do a great job making snow plus they have lights so both help out a lot. My criticism comes from the 'shrinking' of the mountain. The left side of the face area is set up for racing a lot of the time. Add a terrain park to the right and you take away a lot of the mountain. The lodge is...

    West Mountain Conditions

I skied the Lower Mountain Trails at Gore today and was disappointed. I have been in the sunny south for 2 weeks and thought the recent storm would refresh the snow cover on the lower trails. Trails were ribbons with less than ideal snow. Then it warmed up enough that you were polling through...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

We laughingly describe my golf course as a "LTO / FTC" course.... Last to open... First to close ! Yep, even with all the unexpected warm weather and a zillion other courses open, they have not bothered to open early this year. Guess they knew we were going to get a trace amount of snow 50...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Yes it was a decent day. Possibly my last of the season as I leave for Florida at the end of next week. My "return to skiing season" after 25 years away (at the age of 74) was enough of a success, that I took advantage of the Upgrade from Frequent Skier Card rates to buy a Senior Pass for next...

Gore / North Creek Lodging and Amenities

Okay not real ski in ski out. But I can imagine there is a demand for Lake George (or Saratoga) chain hotels to run 3 day weekends of skiing that include your room, breakfast, after skiing restaurant, bar with a band, heated pool, and a shuttle that took you and your equipment to and from the...

Gore / North Creek Lodging and Amenities

First timers visiting Gore hopefully are aware of the 'commuter mountain' status. A lot of resort vacationers expect ski in ski out lodging. A good many of L George hotels and restaurants are open all week during the Winter. Some of the restaurants are more of a weekend window. But you do have...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Can someone please offer an update on what to expect on the green trails off Bear Cub Quad and Sunway Chair? I have been on the shelf for nearly 3 weeks with Covid, Covid Rebound, then damn near pneumonia. But I want to ski Monday. From what I see there has been little natural snow and not a lot...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Gondola is an attraction so most ride it at least once. The lines are present first think in the morning... then gone for the rest of the day. By 2 in the afternoon the mountain is yours. I have joked that if I left my keys could valet parking move my car from Lot D, E, or F to the front row! I...

    Dalbello JAKK ?

A family friend a whole lot younger than me (75) is relocating. Has not been doing a lot of skiing lately so his equipment is usually pristine. He knows I got back into skiing this year and am looking for a boot to finish the year out and hopefully use next year. Dalbello Veloce 75 is my...

    Whiteface Conditions

Thank you for your reply... I am coming off Covid followed by a Covid rebound so I will soon be heading north to Gore again. BUT I do want to make the trip further north to Bear Den Lodge sometime in early March. After that I head to Florida to de-rust my golf swing. Just spent some time...

    West Mountain Conditions

Question for Old Timers who remember West from 30 years ago... Did the OLD Face lift exit higher up the mountain than the current Face lift? NEW Face lift seems to exit further down the mountain... Closer to where the merging trail from above comes into the Face. Not the way I remember it ???

    Gore Mountain Conditions

My misfortune continues... I chose to not ski on Monday based on the inaccurate Expected Lifts to be open published on Sunday afternoon. It was corrected on Monday morning but I stayed home thinking Wednesday would be fine. Oops, my "go to" Bear Cub Quad lift is listed as closed for Wednesday...
