Powder Daize should not be a factor when deciding on a Platty pass. To a large extent they have almost become extinct. There have been just a handful over the last number of years. Plus, with the increase in the number of mountain rentals, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

This issue is K-Mart has the skier traffic so they reform and fairly quickly at that. Platty just doesn't get that traffic.

How is it the same outcome if the chair itself didn't fall in that other incident? The only thing that is the same is that people were injured. Edit: I've read some more details and comments and there are reports of swinging /bouncing chairs in this incident as well. But still bo fallinf xhair...

There is merely one theoretical advantage that Hunter has over Plattekill and that is that it is open all week. However, IMHO, this may not really be a true advantage. The more the place is open, the more it gets groomed and the firmer the trail surface becomes. Otherwise, it's like comparing...

IMHO, Catamount is the best ski area with at least a 1000' vert that is closest to NYC.
