    Bristol Conditions

Skied today with my two older granddaughters (14 and 12 1/2). They have no problem keeping up with me, but I have no problem keeping up with them, so they are OK skiing with an old guy (at least for now). Kudos to Bristol for cranking the snow guns given the opportunity with the cold weather...

Fall Views in the Finger Lakes: Ontario County Park 10/26/24

I've mountain biked there quite a few times, but not recently. It's a great park. Yes, there have been a couple of attempts to revitalize Ski Valley, but nothing has ever come of it. You'd have to load up the currency cannon to do it with no guarantee of any kind of success.

    Bristol Conditions

Got down late after having my truck serviced in Canadaigua. New trails are Comet/ Outer Orbit and Upper Infinity. Big piles on Sunset. Upper Galaxy, Lower Meteor, Milky Way and Challenger with guns running on Southern Cross and other spots. Comet was actually pretty good for the first day-not...

    Bristol Conditions

Sunny but cold. Still limited to U/L Rocket, the Loop, Nova and Shooting Star.........but.......lots of snowmaking on Comet, Outer Orbit, Sunset, Milky Way, Upper Galaxy and Lower Meteor plus the beginner area. We should have most of those trails open sometime tomorrow. Much better holiday weeks...

    Bristol Conditions

Made a few runs today on my way back from Branchport to Rochester. Conditions were "firm"-glad I had my slalom skis in the locker especially on Upper Rocket. Gray and overcast made for flat light and I left my ski jacket in Rochester- layers with fleece jacket on top offers little wind...

    Bristol Conditions

OK, finally got my butt down to the hill. Skied yesterday with my two older granddaughters. Crowds weren't too bad although they got a little heavier in the early afternoon-it was fine as the girls were ready to quit. Open trails were Upper/Lower Rocket, the trails that make up the "Loop"...

Another armchair update. U/L Rocket, Nova and Shooting Star are opening today. The new Launching Pad N will open this AM. They are blowing snow on Upper Galaxy, Lower Meteor and Outer Orbit. As a long time passholder, there's lots of things I can criticize Bristol about, but the Fullers are not...

Webcams looking better today-U/L Rocket, Shooting Star, and Nova are getting blasted. I may try for Sunday and Monday.

It's Time to Ski New York

Let me know when you might be at Bristol-happy to show you around assuming we finally get some winter here.I'm retired, so weekdays are fine. Bristol can be a zoo on weekends, so plan accordingly. Sorry, no ticket deals-Bristol unfortunately does not have a buddy ticket program.

Best laid plans................all set to stop by on my way back home to Roch, but as I went out to load the truck I was greeted with pretty hard rain. Sorry, I won't ski one trail in the rain. Supposed to get colder later in the week.

    Bristol Conditions

Bristol is opening today. According to their Facebook post, they had electrical trouble with the guns on Rocket, so they're opening with just the "Loop"-the long aggregation of green trails. I'll pass-we're currently staying in our kids cabin on Italy Hill, so I'll stop by Monday and get in a...

    Wood Pile Obsession

We heat with wood at our Keuka cottage and since we're closing up tomorrow we've got plenty and a lot of log length stuff to be cut up and split for the next year. My wife is trying out our kid's cabin on Italy Hill for the winter and I've cut her (and me when I'm there) a decent amount of wood...

    Big Tupper Thread

Best of luck to the buyers, but as many have said before, where are the customers coming from? Does Big Tupper offer anything that is not available closer to population centers? Hate to be a negative Nellie, but I just don't see how it can attract people other than the nostalgia factor. Is there...

    Swain Ski Resort: 3.14.24

First place I ever skied in 1981. Hasn't changed too much since then. When I first started, they had the snow quality over Bristol as Bristol was owned by a bank in a bankruptcy takeover. They've been on the edge of closing a few times in the recent past, but have managed to make a go of it so far.

    Bristol Conditions

I assume it was a customer loyalty code because we had the IKON the past few years, but not last year. AND, I misread it-it was "Up to $50.00" so when we bought the base pass it was only $25.00 on each pass. We still had the $20.00 Covid year credit, so we were able to use that also. Probably...

    Bristol Conditions

Looks like we're going to get the IKON Base. They sent me a code for $50.00 which makes it the renewal price. We're planning on CO next winter and we can do Sugarbush, Stratton and 5 days Killington. I'd still take Bristol over HV. HV has the amenities, but the runs are so short. Like the...

    Bristol Conditions

Drove down and bought our passes. I had a gift card from a pair of skis I sold on consignment, so rather than try to use that online, I just took care of things in person. Getting expensive for 2 passes and and a locker even though we're 70+. No realistic alternatives though, Swain is quite a...

NY Ski Area Closing Dates 2024

    Bristol is officially closed.

    Bristol Conditions

Thanks! I'm there a lot, so I don't mind adding the updates. After having season passes for 30 years, I'm wondering about next year. Even the 70+ is no bargain and lockers went up $50.00. I'm sure I'll get my moneys worth, but my wife is on the fence-she won't come down early season and ski just...
