    Bristol Conditions

I checked before I left for Rochester and it was moving on the webcam. Checked recently and there were people on it, so fortunately only a brief inconvenience. I'll try tomorrow.

FYI-according to the website, the Comet HSQ is down.I was all set to go, but I'm passing with that. I may drive by later on my way back to Roch and see if they got it going.

The marbles are starting to get broken up on Lower Northstar and some of the other more newly opened trails making for a much nicer surface. We even cut through Orion's Belt with mostly natural and some windblown snowgun snow-pretty thin but skiable. Looks good for the weekend-crowds today...

    Wild Ice

The canal (then Barge now back to Erie) was in back of our house in Pittsford, so we learned to skate there. My brother was the jock and went on to play for RIT and coach McQuaid High School in Rochester.

    Bristol Conditions

Taking today off to give my legs a rest...........skied yesterday and they are still blowing snow. Only things not open are Orion's Belt and Shuttle-the connector from the top of the Galaxy quad to Upper Meteor. Still some marbles, but they seem to get a couple inches of snow each night which...

    Bristol Conditions

Bristol is taking advantage of the lower temps and is blowing snow again today. Skied yesterday and today-first Adult Race League race this morning. Nice conditions and some sun. Clouded up later with flurries. Probably an inch or so of fresh last night. The newer opened trails still had some...

    Bristol Conditions

Wow! For the first time in about 3 years Bristol is almost 100% open! Only things closed are Orions Belt and a couple of connectors. Finally got to ski Northstar top to bottom with the widened upper portion. Lower was chunky and marbley as often happens with newly groomed manmade, but it's open...

    Bristol Conditions

Sorry, no pics...............too cold to pull the phone out. Sun! I could see! Helped moderate the wind and the cold. Guns on Upper Rocket, but it was open, guns on Lower Universe AND Lower Northstar! Started out on the 88's, but ran into some of my race buddies and switched to a pair of my GS...

    Bristol Conditions

"Updates are great. A couple pics might liven things up" Unless I'm with the grandkids when they might ditch me and I need to get in touch with them, I usually leave the phone in the locker. I'll try for some tomorrow.

    Bristol Conditions

Hope these constant reports aren't too boring.............anyway good news! New trails open today are Lower Galaxy, Polaris, Upper Northstar, Upper Universe and some of the connectors. Snowmaking on Lower Universe, Upper Meteor, base of Lower Northstar and Milky Way. Upper Universe was left...

"Hopefully they can make some snow on Lower Northstar sooner than later---" I'm sure the Fullers want to get that open too-it'll be a signature run when we finally get to ski it especially with the widening of Upper North Star.

    Bristol Conditions

Two day report. Yesterday was fogged in-as I approached from Rochester you could see the cloud from all the guns going. Conditions weren't bad but visibility sucked and they ended up closing Upper Galaxy as there were a couple of accidents due to the very foggy conditions. Glad I know the...

    Bristol Conditions

Skied today with my oldest (14) granddaughter-always a pleasure as she's turned into a very good skier (even though she's a typical teenager and calls me "bro" and "dude"). Not bad conditions and fairly crowded, although it is Sunday and the end of the vacation weeks. Nova and Southern Cross...

    Bristol Conditions

Skied yesterday and today. Good news-snowmaking has resumed on the top of the hill-Nova, Upper Galaxy and Morningstar. They'll be in good shape in the next few days-certainly better Christmas/New Years weeks than last year. Conditions pretty much the same-some ice, some sugar and some new man...

Swain, NY: 12/28/24 Making the Most of the Holiday

I'll always have a soft spot for Swain, as it was the first place I ever skied. Back then in the early '80s's, when Bristol was in owned by the bank, if you wanted good conditions, you went to Swain. Glad they have managed to survive ( I know there have been a couple of scares).

    Bristol Conditions

Guess thinking paid off. Rain when we got up which changed to snow depending on elevation. We skied for a couple of hours-the oldest grandaughter's big talk last night of getting there early met reality. Wet snow at the hill with a good couple of inches at the top. Slightly sticky at the bottom...

    Bristol Conditions

Did the torchlight parade last night-one of the better times I've done it. No real moguls as there have been some years and no rain. Took about 25 of us around 11 minutes to decend Rocket followed by an excellent fireworks display. Our oldest granddaughter (14) was hesitant this year, but wants...

It's Time to Ski New York

"Although very small ski areas, in the Rochester area there is also Northampton and Powder Mills. Both are rope tow" There's also Brantling in Sodus. 240' of thrills! It's actually a good slalom hill.

    Bristol Conditions

Good news-no more closed trails from yesterday to today. Got out late and it was spring conditions-at least there was some sun. Back tonight to take part in the torchlight parade down Rocket-always an adventure going down what is usually a pretty bumped up slope carrying two highway flares duct...

    Bristol Conditions

First day since last Thursday (felt a little under the weather Friday and Saturday) and didn't want to deal with the rain yesterday morning as I wanted to watch the Bills game. They've lost a lot of snow-back to green and mud apart from the slopes. Only closed slopes that had been open were...
