Completely agree, especially Hawkeye being the best snow. I started around 9:00 and it was a bit weird early. Sticky, crusty, liquid all within 100 yards. But it improved pretty quickly and you really had the mountain to yourself. Tom

Conditions were great today. Topridge was Goldilocks just right around 10:30. North skied well into early afternoon at least. Possibly my last day of the season, so a final thank you to all the workers that made it a good season. Mother Nature threw a number of curve balls early in the season...

So maybe I was a bit too optimistic about conditions for today. It was pretty rough today although I did not get to the summit. I’m hopeful that the groomers will be able to churn up the hardpack and make for a good day tomorrow. Tom

I believe the ski bowl was closed today but the rest of the mountain skied great. Todays rain is light and I don’t expect much damage. Now get back to arguing over the ski bowl. Tom

Oak was great today. Probably a little more than half open with great snow. A four hour ticket was plenty. Holiday week and no crowds. Nice place to get away from the hustle of the big mountains. Tom

A friend and I both got our skis stuck under weeds skiing newly opened twin fawns on Saturday. Not much speed and pitch so no real problems. But the same thing on Hawkeye wouldn’t have been fun. I’m not defending the avalanche talk, but there may have been a reason to pack down a few lines...

I left at 2:30 today and didn’t see snowmaking at the summit. I doubt Hawkeye will open tomorrow. Not that it really matters but conditions were good today. Top pick was Uncas. Tom
