    Portable Speakers

My first car stereo was a Sony boom box. Sat in the middle of the bench seat of my 70 Chevelle plugged into the cigarette lighter. It was a pretty crappy boom box for a Sony. Took it with me driving van delivering candy and cigarettes. I can remember almost leaving it on top of the roof of the...

    Wolf Creek, CO: 2/22 - 2/24/22

Funny you mentioned the Griswald's cabin, at the entrance of Ghost Ranch there's a cabin that looks to be 100 years old. The ridge is curved like gravity had been pulling on it that long. Nope, was constructed for the movie City Slickers and they decided to leave it up.

    Wolf Creek, CO: 2/22 - 2/24/22

They were taking the new Kachina chair at Taos. It was a 40 minutes hike before the chair was installed. The locals were thrilled that their previously preserved slope was now being scraped off by Texas gapers. Probably took them an hour to side slip their way back to the bottom.

    Wolf Creek, CO: 2/22 - 2/24/22

Great TR, great pics. Glad you got the goods. I hit Wolf Creek a couple years ago while visiting my son in CO. It snowed a few days before I skied it, pretty cool place, reminded me of a mini Abasin. The Texans were there in force. I left them at Taos and was surprised they traveled even further...

    McCauley Mountain 02/25/22

Do it, if you like Plattekill, you'll like McCauley. As someone once told me, the only problem with McCauley is that everything is either too hard, or too easy. This is somewhat true, I think the only blue is the main trail under the chair, then vering skier's right, can't remember the name. The...

Who made that? That incompetent liftie at the top of 5? He better get on the ball and start paying attention to his job.

    Greek Peak Conditions

Greek still good, get it while it lasts. Amazing the snow loss on Arcadian Gate with sub freezing temps. The spring sun has arrived. Olympian, believe it or not, looks like a green, maybe a blue.

    McCauley Mountain 02/25/22

With the ice encroaching, we decided it was time to head north where the chances of a pure snow event were greater. McCauley was the choice. About 5" at the base when we arrived at 9. It snowed all day, very small flakes with the occasional burst of a bit larger ones. Everything skied pretty...

    Greek Peak Conditions

Greek was good today. Nice of winter to make a return appearance. Couple inches of lake snow atop the groomers this morning skied very sweetly. The quad got busy early so we didn't make too many runs on the front side before heading to chair 4. Got second tracks on Alcemene, twas good. As was...

Nice, yep really cool getting three generations together for an activity. Also goes to show you don't need big vert to have a fun day on skis.

    Snow Ridge Conditions

Was that Snow Ridge? Damn, the forecast went from a foot to nothing, wtf, I would've been there had I known. When do the post their conditions report? I'd have to leave at 6:30 to get there at opening. Still, even a bit later would've been worth it. Should've checked their webcam. Put too much...

    Greek Peak Conditions

Geez, idk, they were the first generation, white and green, probably 10 yrs or so ago. The bindings put pressure on the boxes on either edge of the top of the ski. Both skis cracked. When I was at Taos I took them into their shop to make sure they were adjusted properly. Someone overheard the...

    Greek Peak Conditions

I actually bought the 110's from an infamous former member here. They're mounted with Marker Duke touring bindings. I bought a pair of skins for them this season, but haven't had a chance to try them yet. I don't have touring boots. I'm hoping I can skin in my alpine boots leaving the top...

    Greek Peak Conditions

Greek was good this morning. Couple inches of squall snow was a nice sweetener. Headed over to chair 4 at about 9:15. Down, oh no, not again. Lesson learned, skied straight to the base and grabbed a shuttle bus over to 5. The guy didn't want to take me, said he was told not to. Got on the radio...

    Greek Peak Conditions

Looks like God is choosing just a dusting for Snow Ridge, and McCauley, back to Greek tomorrow. Man, that was some raw weather in Binghamton this afternoon. The wind was brutal.
