According to the NYS Constitution, Whiteface has a maximum of 25 miles of trails ....how much of that limit is left ?

Today was the best day ......blue skies, snow encrusted trees, no real lift lines to speak of (a little bit on summit), good fast runs. 2 Days in a row, this was a great Whiteface weekend. They are feverishly stock piling snow for this week's thaw. I'll take this weekend !

Last weekend - Bear's Den ...that thursday before, the sprinkler system broke . wiping out the back room they used for ski school and a spill over for guests. Also had a bunch of bag racks in that room. As of last weekend, the room was closed, the bag racks were in the main room and about 8-10...

I grew up in Saratoga - went to High School there in the 80's .........so many people graduated and were able to get good paying full time jobs at Quad - hard work, hard hours but if you have the fortitude - you did well. Sad to see a job like that go, they were the darling of the area for awhile.

The ski club is 6 Tuesdays at West mountain. They don't have a long season. I am sure it will be canceled again.:cry:

In my opinion, they don't have enough potential open trails to handle a holiday crowd. I am sure they will crank out as much snow as possible but this past sunday night \ monday put a huge hurt on. I will ski during the holiday week regardless since I am so close but it should be interesting.

One thing at Bear's Den - they severely reduced storage \ shelving for bags. The middle room is now divided with the back part for rental overflow, removing all the bag storage there. That leaves one side wall that used to contain a tall, deep handmade wooden rack - it could hold a fair amount...

We rode it a few times - in the morning, i swear...it had a new car smell :D I always boot up at Bear's Den, so for me, I like it....i have seen Falcon Flyer get long lines with beginners and the lift slowing or stopping to help people. I've "hiked" up to Porcupine Pass if it's really jammed...
