    Ski Industry "Debundling"

    We really need some snow.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

They should rename Echo "The Rumor." I have heard a lot about that trail, but have rarely skied it. And not for lack of effort or interest.

    Quality Gloves for Skiing

I have used these cheap Head gloves from Costco for the past several years. I have two pair that I bring in case one gets damp. As warm, if not warmer, as anything I have used in the past and in the store they were ~$16.

That looks more like Cloudspin (aka the snowfields)

    Gore Mountain Conditions

I must have been at a different Gore this weekend. Never waited in lift line more than a minute or two (that picture of the line for the Topridge chair must have been a brief anomaly after everyone realized that mayhaps they weren't really expert skiers and bailed on Hawk/Chat), easily found a...

    Belleayre Conditions

Based on what I saw today, Belle will be close to 100% open tomorrow. They should be able to open as much as they can groom. Deep, heavy base. Get there early before it gets torn up and you’ll have a blast.

    Fall Weather 2022

I can confirm a wintry mix has been on in the Philadelphia suburbs for over an hour already.

Recommendations for the Last Week of December

Gore is the correct choice for this and any other trip you may take. At a minimum you are going to have Showcase, Twister, Quicksilver, Top Ridge, Pine Knot, Uncas, Tahawaus, Sleeping Bear and Wild Air. All fun blue/black trails that dwarf anything that Belle can offer. Belleayre is steep at the...

    Belleayre Conditions

I will be driving up from Philly (long story) Friday morning. Hopefully I can be skiing 12-3. Then on to Gore for the weekend.

    Belleayre Conditions

The horror stories I have read on here make me drive slow on 28--I generally prefer Brownski's view of speed. I did get a ticket on the Taconic (near Clinton) on the way to Jiminy with my daughters a couple years back. 72 in a 55.

    The Incredible Music Thread

I was with a group of 8 people in a place with about 10 tables, two booths and a counter. We probably wouldn't have even noticed him if not for his parking struggles (we were sitting in the front window). He came in with his wife (Laurie Anderson) and one other person. They sat down in a booth...

    The Incredible Music Thread

No, it was Mr. John's Pancake House in Montauk. The guy had a really hard time parallel parking his Mercedes despite about 30 feet to spare on both ends. This was about a week after Lulu dropped.

I originally put in Excel so I wouldn't miss any! Earplugs are key at smaller venues and metal shows.

    The Incredible Music Thread

I saw Motorhead in 2003 opening for Dio and Maiden at MSG, so it wasn't a proper show, only about 25 minutes--all the hits though. My big regret is never seeing Tom Waits--I overslept and missed out on tickets for a show in Oakland back in '99.

    The Incredible Music Thread

And while we're comparing artists we've seen, the following list includes all of the bands I have seen on purpose along with notable/enjoyable openers. I am sure I have seen several dozen more opening bands that were either forgotten or part of a festival lineup and I didn't really intend to...

There's an NHL player named Jack Johnson as well. Pretty sure I saw him play a game when he was with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

For a nice as Dio is, it seems Ritchie Blackmore has a reputation for being that much of a jerk.

    Mountain Creek 2-27-2022

How late can you ski midweek in January? I have a company offsite at Crystal Springs (which seems to be right next door) and was hoping to get some runs in after each day's business.
