    Ukraine Invasion

This was pretty good. Events like this do not happen in a vacuum so the history is important. I thought the colonialism argument was pretty weak. Also glossed over NATO a little too lightly. NATO acceptance potentially puts troops and missiles on its borders. If you want to know how the US...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Does anyone know if Gore has any restrictions on early parking? I was hoping to get there around 4:30-5:00AM and crash in the car until opening just so I don’t have to drive when it starts to really accumulate.

    Winter Weather 21/22

I know everyone is looking forward to Friday but in light of the warm spell the past few days I now have flying critters buzzing the kitchen ceiling fan/light fixture combo. In February! Seriously WTF!!

    The New Normal

Thank you sno. I’m old school. Toughen up, get over it. It’s how I was raised and I imagine most in this forum around my age (53) were as well. Doesn’t work with a lot of kids and young people. Most people assume young people can handle it. The “they bounce back easily” argument. I now...

    The New Normal

You guys need to take it easy on sno. He’s a big boy and likes to dig in his heels and defend himself and I love that about him. But assuming most of you have only ever met him in this forum it’s safe to say you don’t actually know him very well. You can’t possibly know the effect this entire...

    First Time to Gore Mountain

Does anybody know why the UMPs list Showcase and Santanoni to both have some length on “town land”? Doesn't the state own the land those trails are on? Easements?

    F Vail

If they keep delivering poor service the entire mess will sort itself out. It always does. They will have to practically give away passes and that is not sustainable.

    Heading out Wednesday

I ski Catamount, Belleayre (both since the storm) and Berkshire East (2 days prior). They are in pretty good shape considering how much rain they got, but Gore looks like the easy winner on this.

    First Time to Gore Mountain

Thanks. Do you mean the entire trail for showcase or just the bottom? Also, what is the pitch on twister like? Twister dumps into the bottom of Showcase. The last 100 yards or so before the lifts is rather steep but it is very wide and groomed so plenty of room to manuever. First time Gore...

    Katz Speaks

Benny thanks for the summary. There's not alot people in this world I have the patience to listen to for an hour, especially this toolbag rambling on about diversity and environmentalism while customers are storming the exits because the entire experience sucks balls. If that is really how he...

    Catamount Conditions

I was at both on Sunday and he is correct it was a total mess. Basically one lift working at BE by noon so we left and hit Catamount since it’s on the way home, and lines were somehow even worse. First time I ever described a day skiing as a shitty day. Nice to know they are fully aware and plan...

    The Ugh Thread

Ice, elevation, and compression is magic. Absolutely have to be dilligent about it, and doesn't hurt to throw in some Aleve or Advil. Think we are in the same age range, I'm 53. Couple times in the past year thought I really did some damage. 30 minutes on/off for a couple hours, and none of them...

    Catamount Conditions

I just recently got back into skiing. I really like the place and its by far the closest mountain to me. I am curious what you think of the place as a more seasoned skier? For next year was thinking of downgarding to the midweek pass since my schedule allows a good amount of Monday thru Friday...

    Catamount Conditions

I have the season pass here. Went Thursday and Friday. Just looked at the live cams and the place has less people today than either of those days. Same thing on the Berkshire East cam, the place is empty. Pretty bummed couldn't make it today. Going BE tomorrow so hoping everyone doesn't decide...
