    Ski Tracking Apps and Stats

I started using We Ski simply because I was curious. Vertical, distance, and speed all seem to be very consistent over multiple days at same places (8-10 days each @ Catamount Belleayre & Gore) so the accuracy seems to be very good.

Poll: The Impact of the Epic Pass

This sounds like a very reasonable idea. Another way to go is keep the midweek/restricted passes significantly cheaper than full and unrestricted access. Even at $1,000 these things are all a very good deal considering the access they get you.

    Quick poll for my friends

I have the Summit Pass so been to both a bunch this year. Skip Catamount rest of this season. They need the offseason to finish up bunch of projects. Berkshire East midweek is hard to beat. The main face of the mountain has 5 trails. Big Chief (blue trail skiers far right) and Competition...

All of that is exactly correct. Additionally it made more room for the kids racing program.

    Catamount Conditions

Another off season to finish the upgrades will be a huge help. I look at BE as the template for the finished product and while definitely better the 3 weekends (1holiday w/e) I have been there it’s been a mess. Their website says get tickets they going to sellout, and they still seem totally...

    Mountain Creek 2-27-2022

Havn’t actually decided yet on their midweek pass. At $270ish it’s cheap enough to do anytime. Catamount is closest to me and is fine and I really like Berk East but it’s just a bit of a stretch for midweek at 2.5 hours each way. May put it in the basket with a holiday limited NYSki3 and an Indy.

    Mountain Creek 2-27-2022

Thanks for the feedback. Looked at it a little more and that half ass gondola thing is enough yo keep me away. Thanks for the feedback, think I’ll actually be going Indy Pass for my second one.

    Mountain Creek 2-27-2022

I had no idea this place was so close to me. Thier season pass is dirt cheap and I'm mostly a mid week opening bell skier. Was planning on getting a full Belleayre/Gore pass and then a midweek to Jiminy Peak. Can anyone compare it to Jiminy Peak? This is actually closer and cheaper but I have...

    Catamount Conditions

New owners and a bunch of projects/upgrades going on that did not get finished in time for the season, specifically upgrades to the snowmaking system and a second lift to the summit. Its been great midweek but a total mess on the weekends. Been to Berkshire East (same owner/one pass for both)...

Random NYSkiBlog Stuff That You Might Not Care About

He can go scratch his ass. This blog is a wealth of info for anyone in the eastern half of the state looking for ski info. Do NOT dial back anything. Lurking by the lifts waiting for you knowing your tendency for first chair? It’s a slimy move and tells you all you need to know about the guy.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Skied with an older timer (78 and still at it!!) couple weeks ago. Although I have yet to try sagamore I asked the same question. According to him they usually do not groom and let it get bumped up. Sounded reasonable enough but no idea if it true.

I didn’t get over to Burnt Ridge on Wednesday but that definitely looks fun and doable.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Quick question before the lifts spin. What are some of the better (easier) single black runs at Gore? I ski pretty much all of them at Catamount Berkshire East and most at Belleayre but I find Gore a bit more intimidating. I’ve done Open Pit which was fun. From the lifts Sagamore and Top Ridge...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Think I posted in a private exchange but I expect to have to move my vehicle, likely several times. I’ll have all the sleep I need by the time I get there so not an issue being alert.

    Ukraine Invasion

Different reasons for these conflicts. Crimea holds Russian military bases and more importantly controls access to the Black Sea for Russian energy exports which are its most important asset.

    Ukraine Invasion

The free world also seemingly does not grasp the concept that both Putin and Xi do not give a rats ass what the rest of the world thinks. If they deem something is in their best national interest they will do it. They may have to bide their time but they eventually will act. I wouldn’t be...

    Ukraine Invasion

Always best to hear from someone with the lineage. Always gave a greater understanding of the history. I am by no means pro Putin / pro Russia. Just taking a look at all the facts and try to reason how we (USA) might react in same scenario and see how it all measures up. My guess is this has...
