Oil companies do not set oil prices. It is a global market with benchmark products traded on several exchanges around the world. Driven by the same factor as every other market: current and future estimated supply/demand, market shortages and gluts, increasing/decreasing refinery production, and...

    Games of Some Olympiad

from the article: While he said there’s a slim chance that Lake Placid could handle another Olympics alone, he thought it would be “very feasible” to host the Olympics here along with another municipality in the state. Devlin agreed. With hundreds of millions of dollars being funneled into...

Very much so. Like the way you included the history about how it has changed. Answered a bunch of questions I have always wondered about but was too lazy to go look up.

    Games of Some Olympiad

Is an NYC Winter Olympics out of the question? All ice events in the city @ the various hockey arenas, and skiing and jumping in LP. Would think they could handle the reduced capacity that way. It’s about a 4.5 hour drive. Most Olympics lately, both summer and winter, seem to be quite spread...

That is a very cool career arc. How many years did you stay in that final position?? With all that freedom and a nice income sounds like something to stay in well after normal retirement age. Also I never knew that fundraising was such an intricate part of the job of a President. How necessary...

I was kind of lucky. I went to Northeastern with their huge internship program. As mentioned, it took me sevral changes of major, and a couple job cycles to land in something I really enjoyed and excelled at. Without that exposure to real jobs I have no idea what I would have ended up with...

All good points regarding advanced students that I hadn't really thought of. My daughter has actually mentioned being bored to tears in anything that isn't AP or College Prep. Probably going more from my personal experience where it took me 2 years to figure out a major. At that time everyone...

I am 100% in favor of spending at least the first year in CC. I think so many kids would be much better off going that direction, especially those that don't have a clear idea of what they want to do. The cost savings for what is mostly entry level classes is outstanding. Unfortunately I got...

A few years ago SUNY mandated free tuition (room and board not included) for anyone accepted with over a certain GPA (was only around a B+) and below a certain income level which if I recall correctly was around $90k. After that they pretty much stopped aid to everyone else.

You fill out an aid application once and it goes to every school you apply. I know we linked to our tax returns so you are correct with previous year income. Current income was just a fill in the amount. I don’t recall having to send any documentation for current income.

My daughter bagged 5 AP classes and 2 college prep classes. I had to pay for one of them run thru Syracuse, but she basically saved me an entire semester of tuition.

The SUNY's are very good schools but something to consider is financial aid. Basically over a certain income level SUNY does not give a dime. My daughter got into 2 SUNY's as well as UConn, Penn State and URI. We got grants/tuition reduction at all 3 and nothing from the SUNY's making the cost...

That is some very good info I had no idea about or would have even thought of. Thank you. I will definitely be lobbing in a call to see if the places I booked do this.

For work purposes I also prefer something in a populated area with strong mobile service. I have no one else on shift with me so if Wifi goes out for some reason I need to be sure I can get a strong enough signal to hot spot my phone and connect to our VPN.

Two reasons. Little further away AND this far in advance is cheaper. I don’t mind a short drive. I work nights and finish @ 7:00AM so have time to kill before lifts spin. Got everything for about $70/night. I had checked during the season and everything was pretty close to double that. I...

The Northeast Midweek pass is only $385. I’m getting one. I can work remote and I already booked a hotel in Burlington for a Mon-Fri trip in Feb so I can use my 5 Stowe days. I booked the same thing in Rutland for Jan so I can hit Okemo for 5 days. IF they can get their act together in NH I’ll...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Probably a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyway since I really do not know the answer. Is it ok/acceptable to ski thru the freestyle parks if not using any of the obstacles? Been to Gore half a dozen times and never been down Wild Air. Wasn't sure if its considered bad etiquette.

How Many Ski Days in 21/22?

This was my first full season skiing. My goal was 20-25 and I got to 39 days. Mostly 3.5 hour midweek sessions @ Belleayre and Catamount, then had a bunch of Gore and Berkshire East for the longer days and a couple scattered one timers. With some schedule changes next year the goal is 60 days!
