Is it just me or does the RFID gate at Burnt Ridge Quad remind anyone else about the Toll Gate scene from Blazing Saddles??

    ORDA's Biggest Wins

A cheap way around that is Lake George. All those rooms they have for the summer are empty and dirt cheap during the winter. Not ski in/out but Gore is 30/35 minutes and Whiteface about 1:20. I work remotely at night and have stayed there 4/5 times so far this year for the week and it doesn’t...

    New Gore Trail

Tried this on Friday and loved it. My 2 cents FWIW is to leave it as is. The new trail gives Burnt Ridge an outstanding trifecta along with Sagamore and Echo, but the whole section has its drawbacks which will always keep it from getting overcrowded. If you can deal with the long traverse and...

    Plattekill Conditions

Last day of my vacation and I will be finishing off at Plattekill. Day 10 on this trip and Day 42 overall. Tried some new places, Killington Pico Stratton Okemo and Sunapee. Couple days each at Gore and Whiteface simply because I really like them. Black helmet and jacket, bright reddish pants...

Chatiemac is seeing PLENTY of action today. Pretty sure the rope is still up but doesn’t seem to matter.

    Killington Conditions

First time at Killington today. Snow was perfect. Visibility was shit. Grabbed a few runs up top early and then stayed below the fog/mist rest of the day. This place is incredible. Too far for me for day trip but definitely getting the pass next year and I’ll figure out the rest later. Anyone...

Don't ski with your boots in "walk" mode!

What is this? A setting on the boot that can be changed?

    Gore Mountain Conditions

I love the board in the security tent with the pictures of banned items. Got a good laugh from the “explosives” picture with the Wile E. Coyote dynamite bundle. All it was missing was the ACME logo

    ORDA Snowmaking Improvements

I do not doubt plenty of companies could run Gore better than ORDA. No place is perfect. Even the mighty Killington seems to have plenty of complaints lately. I stand by my point though, that other than those two, who else currently in the ski business, has the actual capital needed to pull off...

    ORDA Snowmaking Improvements

I hate the govt being involved in anything they shouldn’t be, but who other than Vail or Alterra could afford this? Is that what you really want? Epic/Ikon crowds, parking and every other add on that will come along in the next few years. Yes ORDA can be a bit frustrating at times but their...

    ORDA Snowmaking Improvements

So Gore and Whiteface are behind the curve in getting terrain open this year, but would they have gotten the funding for the improvements they have made if they did not get the WUG? This seems to be a pretty tough year for the entire region as far as snowmaking and open terrain goes. I have to...

    Gore vs Belleayre

In this case go with Gore. Belle’ is an outstanding mountain for intermediates (like myself) or if it happens to be much more convenient (like myself). You likely wouldn’t get bored because it would be new for you, but it is much less interesting than Gore.

    Transparency in Snow Reporting

More of an early season thing. If I’m making a drive want to know in advance there’s enough open to make it worthwhile.

    Transparency in Snow Reporting

I find it ironic that within the same organization Belleayre’s condition report is incredibly accurate. Skied 17 days there so far this year and the only inconsistency was a 2-3 day stretch that showed upper Winisook to be groomed. Last year they left it mostly untouched which is the reason I...

    Belleayre Conditions

Couldn’t agree more with this statement. I ski a ton midweek so it’s never an issue then. When I do go on a weekend/holiday it is EXTREMELY difficult, but totally necessary, to downshift to #7 and Tomahawk. #7 not so bad but Tomahawk feels like the second slowest lift on the planet. Their...
