    Ski Day Tracking 2022 - 2023

I work in the commodities markets. Grains (wheat corn soybeans) and soft commodities like coffee sugar and cocoa. I cover Asia and the openings of the European sessions.

    Ski Day Tracking 2022 - 2023

The goal for the season was 60 days. Got all the way to 82. I work remotely at night Sunday thru Thursday from 9:30P-6:30A so I ski from the open and go nonstop for about 5 hours per day and sleep in the afternoon/evening. The exception is Fridays which I go open to close since no work that...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Isn’t events like WUG though that are driving all the recent upgrades? If that’s the case I’ll sacrifice one spring in a crappy year for all the improvements

    Magic is Going RFID?

Hunter, Stowe and Okemo all used the hand scanners this year when I went. Seems that’s the Vail way? I would assume a bunch of handheld devices are much cheaper than fixed gates and I would guess this is the way the Indy partners will go. I ski midweek so crowds were never an issue but it...

    Bar up or bar down?

I only keep the bar up at Face Lift at Whiteface and others like it with the safety stops that are only big enough for the leg of a 12 year old.

    Bar up or bar down?

It’s the law in Vermont at least according to signs prominently displayed at Sugarbush. I did see it at one other Vermont (maybe Stowe?) but nowhere else.

    Whiteface Conditions

There so many people in there it’s like watching an ant farm from the lift

    Gore Mountain Conditions

A bunch of old people (myself included) telling a young person to slow down and smell the roses. Something we never did at the same age.

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

Maybe I missed it earlier in this thread but are they scheduled to actually break ground this spring/summer for any of the ski bowl projects mentioned? If so which ones? Reading this and other posts Gore (or is it ORDA?) seems to have a history of projects approved but never even started.

Poll: What is your mix of Peak vs Off Peak?

I work an overnight shift and remotely so I ski any and every weekday that I can. Most days are 4-5 hours, occasionally less and sometimes more when conditions are great. Work, ski, sleep, work, it’s pretty much a lather, rinse, repeat cycle. My goal for the season was 60 days. I’m currently at...

    Stratton Conditions

I always thought it was much further than it actually is. I have stayed in Lake George quite a bit this year and bounce between Gore (35 minutes) and Whiteface (1:20). Killington also is only 1:20. Was very surprised when Sugarbush turned out to be only 2 hours. It may get me to consider Ikon.

    Stratton Conditions

Sno I’m just curious why you never seem to go to Sugarbush. I have only skied each of them once but I loved Sugarbush. Thought it was WAY more fun and interesting. I do not ski trees at all (yet) so could be that. Also seems to be alot less crowded. Both reasons for me would be enough to offset...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

One of the things I enjoy most about all three places is the lack of development. Just a lodge snd parking lots. I never feel like I’m skiing in somebody’s back yard. I can’t see the state ever selling them and hope to hell they NEVER decide to put them on any mega pass. Ski3 is a perfect...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Yesterday was my first time at Ski Bowl. Moxam and Oak Ridge Trail are an absolute blast. I agree ungroomed 46er looked like WAY too much work to enjoy. Seemed like there were literally 5 people total on Ski Bowl trails. I assume the good with the bad (regarding the new lodge there) will be...

    Whiteface Conditions

Slides are open. Bluebird morning but some clouds rolling in now. Still right around 32F and only the lowest part of mountain is soft.

    Any Day, Any Race

2 from St Lawrence. Had to qualify at a regional to get here for the finals. Not sure how many NY schools have NCAA race teams. Probably more club teams and pretty sure they don't get to qualify.

Slides are open. About 30 minutes ago. Practically zero wind at the summit. Sun came out Outstanding day.

    Sugarbush Conditions

I spent the prior 4 days skiing Stowe and for me this place blew it away. That just based on what I like. I'm sure plenty of people would think i'm crazy for saying that.

    Sugarbush Conditions

I skied there Friday for the first time. I only had one day so I stayed on Lincoln Peak side. Weather and conditions were absolutely perfect. Only took about 2 hours to jump to the top of my list of my personal favorite list. They had to practically kick me off the mountain at the end of the day...
