    Gore Mountain Conditions

Pretty good. No more post concussion effects, no problems driving or in loud/bright public places. I know a couple of guys who had serious long term post-concussion after cycling crashes, one told me there are circuits that just aren’t there anymore and he’s had to figure out “work-arounds” in...

We’re eternal optimists, and afraid of missing that one sweet day when it’s accurate. Plus it’s still better than everywhere else. Jiminy and Bromley lifts opened late today due to ice, or so their web sites stated. May have happened at Gore, too, but they don’t publicize stuff like that.

That’s what Milo and I have always said about Gore - on a crowded day you can head for one of the remote pods and have a lot more room to maneuver.

If you haven’t had one, the best I can describe the feeling of mild post-concussion is like a hangover. That feeling was just about gone this morning, and after not driving for 48 hours after the fall I went out to the market. After 15 minutes in the store the hangover felt a little worse -...

I’m sure we could fill pages with war stories about falls/injuries. Something to keep in mind is that if you have a pass and miss a good chunk of a season, Gore will help you out. I broke a clavicle on MLK weekend several years ago, end of season. I rode up to Gore with family/friends a couple...

Absolutely. Any damage to shell or foam liner and a helmet must be replaced. I’m going shopping today looking to upgrade to a Giro with MIPS. Mine has a dent dead center on the front edge, right above my broken goggles and scraped nose. Also a big crack way over on the left in the photo, in both...

A bit of a stiff neck and the same feeling in my head from other concussions. I was standing when Patrol got there and they asked me if anything else was injured, I told them I had a bump on the left knee. They were correctly more concerned with the loss of consciousness. I could barely walk...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

I was last in a group of four, none of them knew I went down until they waited and then came back up on High Peaks. I checked around me before I started down Pit and there was no one anywhere near me, so I don’t think anyone hit me. The skiers who stopped said they saw me fall but didn’t...

I got my first toboggan ride yesterday. The last I remember was making a half dozen nice turns on the top of Open Pit and heading left chasing my friends toward Lower Darby. I woke up in the middle of the trail right in front of the <-Cloud/Open Pit-> signs, some nice people following me stopped...

It’s done when it’s cold enough, which doesn’t happen often enough lately. You do it when you can, even Saturday morning.

Finally after pouring resources into the WUG at the expense of the rest of the mountain, Gore got the Burnt Ridge pod open last week, including the long and greatly hyped Backwoods trail. So today Burnt Ridge chair isn’t running, and tomorrow’s snow report, just posted, says it’s closed again...

They likely need a date for bookkeeping. Adult tickets cost more than junior and senior, accounting probably need to know the value of the ticket they are comping.

There are fewer teams and athletes at North America WCs than those in Europe, especially from the smaller/less affluent teams. It’s a cost-benefit analysis - is it worth the expense, jet lag, etc. to come here to keep your rivals from scooping up a lot of WC points uncontested.
