ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

I think the entire luxury vehicle market regardless of powertrain is having a pullback.

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

I used to take it, but just to Albany where my car was waiting. I think a big part of the problem is that Amtrak is very local after that

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

For a few years I used to leave my 06 Escape at the Albany station, take the train from Penn, then drive the rest. Considering how long and stressful it was getting out of Brooklyn it was about the same amount of time if not shorter. Of course it was a coin flip if that shitbox would start...

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

Looks like the Phoenix has Sold and/or rebranded: https://publichousehotel-adirondacks.com/ There's also the Alpine and the B&B.

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

If Gore had a Gondola from the town to the base, a snow train from Atlantic Terminal and/or Penn Station would be incredible for city folks

    Skiing's Future

When are they just gonna spiral a frozen tube around a sky scrapper? The Burj Khalifa is 2700 feet, that's some serious vert.

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Counterintuitively, I almost think the longer 6+ hour drives are less of an issue with EVs as opposed to the 4 - 6 hour drives. I mostly ski the under 3 hour away Cats these days, which is well within the 310 mile range of my Y (new ones have a bit more), but I used to do the 5 hour Brooklyn...

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

If you have a 350 mile range EV, going 70 mph is 5 hours of driving. I don't believe you drive for 22 hours straight. And if you really do, a forced break for 20 - 30 minutes every 5 hours might not be a bad thing

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Driving fast and blasting the heat/AC also decreases range and efficiency in gas car BTW

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

It seems suspiciously way too cheap, but I pulled the trigger on a winter wheel + tire package for the Y: https://t1motorsports.ca/products/tesla-model-y-18-winter-package?variant=47193946980577 Going from 19s to 18s should make the ride a little softer and possibly add a bit of range. I...

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

It really depends on the car and how aerodynamic it is. While cool looking, Rivians have a drag coefficient of .32 while a Model Y has a .22 coefficient. A Lucid Air is under .2 I haven't directly measured it but I usually drive ~ 75 on the highway and I don't lose that my range in Y

    Living in the Mountains

It will be interesting to see what happens to NC once the new Ski Bowl build out is complete. A gondola between the town and the lifts would bring something special that only exists out West or in Europe.

    Living in the Mountains

So much hand wringing about places like Jackson / Bozeman / Boise etc, but it's not like there aren't vast endless swaths of affordable rural America. If anything I would think destination cities that bring in money, jobs, and healthcare would help the wider regions without much affordability...
