    Plattekill Conditions

To those who follow, you are welcome! To the trail breaker goes the spoils! Of course breaking trail in means breaking trail out. You are welcome, again. At least I ran into TheGreatAbyss playing in the woods! Into the breach once more!

Platty FB page reporting 30 inches this afternoon while clearing parking lots with the snowcat!

    Plattekill Conditions

Belleayre updated to 24. Last report from Hunter was 19 (when Belle was at 18). With the Meeker Hollow effect one has to assume Platty came out at 24+??

    Spring Skiing?

Broski, we all know they are always wrong…..but we don’t say such things out loud!

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Honestly, 30 inches of heavy, wet “powder” can be un-fun for many, maybe even most, people. Even good, light powder isn’t for everyone. The best people are those who struggle in it and still have a blast. Those are my kind of peeps!

    Whiteface Conditions

I was trying not to sound like a lush. If I needed to really kill time I could make food and bloodies at the Cloudspin last for tree hours!

    Spring Skiing?

As you may have gathered from others, on a 40 degree day, when it gets below freezing overnight, you’ll be just fine. It’ll likely be fast and firm in the am and, assuming spring has been kind and there have been a few cycles of below freezing nights followed by 40 degree days, sometime after...

    Whiteface Conditions

Yeah. Unfortunately, the off hill suggestions should make it clear that killing 5 hours at the hill for a non-skier is less than ideal. Yeah, a gondola ride can kill an hour or so. Lunch and drinks in the Cloudspin Lounge can kill another hour or two. That still leaves a couple hours of...

Another one driving his pass past Belle. Good call!

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Especially with those lifts closed today Gore will be off the hook tomorrow….but I went with Platty. An hour less driving each way, getting my annual Platty “fix”, the ability to find fresh lines all day, and knowing power issues won’t likely be a problem made my choice easy.

    Plattekill Conditions

Ticket purchased! Could I have skied tomorrow for “free” (Ski3) at Belle? Sure, assuming they have power. However, if I’m going to pay for a Platty ticket at all this season tomorrow is a no-brainer….he says in understatement of the year!

    Winter Weather 22/23

Leave tonight and ski Gore or Belle tomorrow, then hit Magic or Platty on Wednesday. Would require two nights lodging for max powder returns!

    Plattekill Conditions

So, Harvey, what’s the scoop. Powder Daize this week? Tuesday or Wednesday? Inquiring minds want to know!

What about 4, has that been open?

    Whiteface Conditions

I don’t know whom I’m happier for that the Slides are open today…..Sno (for getting in there) or us (for not having to listen to Sno complain about not getting in there). :p I am, however, looking forward to the report!

    Whiteface Conditions

I agree with Sno. While I have seen some minor loose wet movement in the spring, I don’t think avalanche concern is what prompts Silver Status. Fact is that lesser skilled skiers are unlikely to have avy gear, and the requirement just serves to keep numbers down and skill level up...
