I would think it's gotta be incredible at Ellen right now. I was there in Mid January and it was already stellar with everything open and they've gotten so much more snow since then.

    Whiteface Conditions

BennyMikes on Instagram skied the slides earlier this week I assume from the road and posted and they absolutely look ready. They consistently open next week and I'm tempted to burn a day or two of PTO to get after them.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Aside from the sad accident, Conditions were great today. Rumor opened and in usual opening day fashion was nice chalky manmade and the clear ROTD. Made many laps. Also great (though no bad runs to be found) were Double Barrel, Upper Darby to Darby Woods, McIntyre and the Dark Side Glades...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Anyone been up since Monday? Curious how things are skiing after the bit of niar Monday and today's snow. Debating between Gore and WF for the weekend. Looks like more snow for Gore Sunday...but WF is going to get some upslope that Gore won't tomorrow.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

I did yesterday and it was OK. Very skied in and a little thin but doable. Surprisingly the lower part was open and that wasn't it's usual rock garden. As for today I didn't venture beyond the main mountain.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Great day. Honestly better than yesterday despite the cold and no new snow. Cold actually wasn't bad thanks to no wind and I think kept crowds down some. Didn't feel busy at all and weren't too many cars on the access road today when I left after 2. Started on the lower mountain at open lapping...

    Whiteface Conditions

I wanted to go again this weekend but the hotels being booked up due to the carnival in SLK put a kabosh on that. Gore was very good today, but not as great as Whiteface had been skiing last couple weeks.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Agree good conditions today and busy too. Lots of good runs but ROTDs in no particular order were chatty glades, upper steilhang, the dark side woods and liftline, darby woods, tahawus glades (the pick) straightbrook liftline from hawkeye. Not ROTD but still good were topridge, open pit early...

I had heard many NJ schools had it off too but anecdotal.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Well I'm committed for tomorrow with a hotel at this point. Hope what falls is super wet to soften up the base then with the temp drop it then sucks the moisture out

    Gore Mountain Conditions

I watched the webcams all day today and it looked like it stayed all snow. As far as snowmaking they were blowing this morning from the cams but I get why they shutdown. It was borderline temps.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

It looks like they have started to get their act together over the last couple weeks, sending snowmakers from Belle to help out would definitely line up with that. Looking like I'll be headed to Gore this weekend given been at WF last two and VT the two before that. Everything is booked up in...

    Whiteface Conditions

Another great day. I think even better than yesterday. Report said 1" fresh but it was definitely closer to 3-4" mid mountain up which all fell after everything was groomed. Made for a sleeper mini pow day. Skyward was wind loaded and kept getting blown in from the wind. Mountain Run had great...

Skyward in the sun with the condition it was in up until noon is absolutely unmatched.

    Whiteface Conditions

Another awesome WF day. Skyward with the whales groomed out was absolutely as good as it gets outside a powder day. Up until about noon it was perfect packed powder with no ice. Like skiing out west. Absolutely the ROTD. Wilmington was a runner up as was Northway under the guns. Everything...

    Whiteface Conditions

These are called lenticular clouds. They are formed by air condensing as it's blown over a ridge at intense speed. If you're flying an airplane, you avoid at all costs. They indicate areas of extreme turbulence. One of the many things I've learned about weather from years of flying and my...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

I'm going to WF again this weekend and incurring the extra drive and expense. Not worth it for what little is open at Gore.

    Whiteface Conditions

It was a stellar private mountain rental at Whiteface today to close out the weekend. I kid of course but it was a ghost town. Though cold it was manageable with the sun. Everything groomed skied incredible, even better than yesterday. Like skiing groomers out west with no ice anywhere. Was...

    Whiteface Conditions

No crowds because of the cold. That was the driver of people not going. Sure MLK Monday is normally the least busy of the holiday weekend but normally gets a decent crowd. At the bar in SLK last night I can't tell you how many people I heard saying they were just heading home Monday because they...
