    Plattekill Conditions

Not gonna be a storm to really know what will happen until it does. Need the coastal portion to develop early and pull cold air south. I think we got a real shot at 10+ at platt. No guarantees and some luck will be needed but it’s easily possible if not probable.

@Harvey That point forecast is for 1400 feet right? 5” of slop ain’t pow but it ain’t a wash out or hard pack ice event either.

18z gfs is pretty interesting I must say. Even with mixing, if it turns fluffy at any point during the wee morning hours that’ll make for a deeper than advertised type of day.

    Plattekill Conditions

Maybe the wrong thread but I’ve found that open snow is generally accurate in places where it actually snows. For us here that means from about killington north or even from Stowe north. For the Catskills I wouldn’t trust it.

    Plattekill Conditions

Definitely looking borderline, wouldn’t be surprised if elevation helps but I definitely expect some to a lot of mixing. Could get lucky though

    Mt. Bachelor: Feb 2023

It certainly is. 360 degrees off the summit is pretty awesome, never seen that before. Even on a Saturday the sheer acreage spreads crowds out impressively. Midweek was a ghost town. When I was landing in Portland my buddy asked me if we should head to baker instead but we decided against the...

    Mt. Bachelor: Feb 2023

Im really surprised how well it skied under that high pressure and being so exposed to winds. The upper mountain I hear can get pretty scoured in between storm cycles but that certainly wasn’t the case here. Even with light winds you get scenes like this on the upper mountain.

    Mt. Bachelor: Feb 2023

Volcano Skiing While visiting a friend who’s considering moving out to Oregon, I wound up in the middle of a big low pressure sandwich. A foot came down 2 days before my arrival and another foot the day after I left. I thought I had it dialed picking an active weather week but alas, you can’t...

Missed out on that snow with Oregon in the dry slot. Damn it looked good up there! Happy someone scored.

Poll: The Impact of the Epic Pass

I think one of the main gripes with Epic is that they’ve taken some previous Rolex mountains and turned them into Timex mountains. The effect isn’t as pronounced at a place like Mount Snow or Hunter, but it’s a real shame at places like Stowe.

    Titus, NY: 1/29/23 Harvey's Road

I'm already feeling the itch to get back up there. It really is a whole other planet once you reach that perfect combination of north latitude and distance from the coast. It actually snows consistently!

    Winter Weather 22/23

Yea Jay’s doing Jay things. Nothing new for the best snow east of the Rockies. A couch delivery killed my chances to get there this past weekend. Agony.
