Where are you skiing this week?

Emerson in Mt Tremper not too far. Not cheap though. Also a cheap looking motel in Big Indian.

    ORDA's Biggest Wins

Not raising prices for 2023-24 passes Having a "limited access" tier that only cuts out holidays, not weekends. Throwing in the rest of this season with next season's pass It would be a no brainer to get these (the full access ones) for my teens and I, except for the fact that the fastest we...

Indy Tour Continues - Magic 2-22-2023

For.a second I thought that shot of the red chairlift next to a comment about opening trails others would not have found acceptable was saying that was an open trail. I pray I was mistaken

Poll: The Impact of the Epic Pass

I definitely spend more total on skiing as a result of having Indy and Epic passes if one includes travel and lodging expenses. But I get a much better experience than I did mostly doing day trips to Poconos, and ski a lot more days than I used to, so I consider them a great deal.

    Greek Peak Conditions

Thanks for clarifying. Official trail report says Mars is closed. Deciding between GP and Catamount for Saturday.

    Plattekill Conditions

Have a friend considering skiing Hunter on Friday. He's never been to Plattekill. Do current conditions warrant me suggesting he check it out instead of Hunter? He boards, likes trees, steeps, bumps but not icy stuff.

    Greek Peak Conditions

A couple questions based on current trail report on GP 1. How is lift 5 running with no trails down to its base running? 2. Where is Alcemene - can't see it on map

    The Indy Pass

In past years a cheaper Spring Pass has been made available around March 1 that gives a single day at each Indy location

Poll: The Impact of the Epic Pass

Yeah it is harder at smaller places. Still smaller lines at Roundtop Ramrod triple, Whitetail expert lift, JFrost Paradise lift. At Hunter stick to double next to Flyer, F lift, Northside lift, Zephyr. Be there at opening and take early lunch when it crowds up or come after it thins out...

Poll: The Impact of the Epic Pass

There are definitely people on skiing boards I participate in that argue that passes should be more expensive so that their favorite mountains have fewer people. Inevitably those that would not be there due to higher prices are more budget conscious people. I am employed 9-5 by a corporation...

Poll: The Impact of the Epic Pass

No doubt for folks who invested in owning a place in the town of Stowe - which costs orders of magnitude more than a season pass ever cost them - their once exclusive home mountain becoming a destination for hordes of budget conscious skiers totally bites, as do measures put in to limit those...

Poll: The Impact of the Epic Pass

As of this year Stowe charges $40 to park weekends and holidays unless you use a couple lots that require shuttles. Haven't been to Stowe since they made that change. Other than that no. Pass gets you a ~20% discount on food and lodging too. Epic places get super crowded at peak times, but I...

Poll: The Impact of the Epic Pass

Well that is what "deal" implies. No doubt getting season passes to Elk and Plattekill and an IKON pass would give one better PA, Catskills, VT and CO ski experiences than an Epic pass does, albeit at 5x the cost of an Epic Local pass.

Poll: The Impact of the Epic Pass

Basically it's the best deal in skiing if you live in this region and like to also ski out west at least once a few days a year - so you accept it for what it is, don't expect everything to be just like it was when you were spending way more $ for it, learn how to make it worthwhile and...

Where are you skiing this week?

Between Catamount and Montage for tomorrow. Cat appeals as my kids have never made it there - and who knows if they will get more fully open than they are now (pretty much all but double blacks open). And they just did Montage for their last ski day 2 weekends ago. But I worry Cat will freeze...

Ski Resorts Panicking About Cold Weather

I'd definitely rather they announce it days in advance than once I have arrived at the mountain. The more notice the better. Inusually book lodging I can cancel up to the day before. I'd like to be able to get out of that too. And change plans to go somewhere warmer, closer and open if I am...
