Frickin’ ORDA failure of EPIC proportions, no doubt?

    Whiteface Conditions

I’m low key excited to be skiing at WF this weekend, slush as it may be! Of course the last truly spring slush day I had at WF (a few years ago) I got so into blasting slush piles, on one turn the inside edge of my downhill ski got pushed up against the shin on my uphill leg, proceeding to...

    Spring Weather 2023

I had a ticket booked leaving tonight for SLC but cancelled it earlier this week because conditions the next few days will be shite. I’ll book again at the end of the month, most likely, and hope to catch a storm or full on spring conditions.

Yeah, I did the same yesterday, when it got to 80 inside the house!

Where are you skiing this week?

I’ll check ski and fish on the same trip off my list. I’m staying in the Bear Cabin at the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge in Wilmington on Saturday. It’s situated on the West Branch Ausable River, so once the snow gets too sticky at Whiteface I’ll head over and don the waders/jump in a kayak and...

Where are you skiing this week?

Have fun! Fond memories of Breck, my first trip out West way back in the day. Back then you had to hoof it up to the Lake Chutes. There’s some good “sidecountry” (I hate that term, it’s all backcountry and should be treated as such) from the lifts, just be smart and safe if you explore!

    Plattekill Conditions

To be clear, I don’t give a whit if they do it. As I said, kinda looked a little fun. It just doesn’t make any sense to me, even if using rock skis. I guess you didn’t see the guy who tried to straight line the loooong grass stretch skier’s right of lower face. He fell hard. It’s one thing...

    Plattekill Conditions

Yeah. I tried to see if I could notice you, but there were probably more people in Ski Patrol jackets than paying customers! Seriously, Platty has to have the highest ratio of patrol to skiers than any mountain on the planet, which is way cool! I did see the Harvey posse once from the lift...

    Spring Skiing?

Ha, I just commented on that in the Platty conditions thread. Hard to feel bad for the kid (I hope none of them were out of their teens) who hit a rocky patch and had a full yard sale, and face planted in the grass/dirt. This kid straight lined 60 or 70 yards right of Face before said biff.

    Plattekill Conditions

What was the deal with those kids (I hope none of them were out of their teens) who thought it was cool to ski the grass, sometimes in long sections? You know those kids aren’t paying for their own tune ups, surely Mom and Dad will pay the extra $30 for the resulting base repair! Did it look...

    Plattekill Conditions

As per Laz himself after the raffle…..never say never. He said to the crowd that maybe they can preserve the double for one more go, maybe. Hard to see it, what with a steady diet of 60s, 70s and even 80 over the next week, but I like his enthusiasm! Nice day today. I went 11 to 4. Seems...

Where are you skiing this week?

Hear ya! The $25 could do it, if I can get out Saturday. It’s either that or free fun at Belle. If there was still viable trees at Platty the $25 fun would be a no brainer, why I asked.

The trees still in play, especially after today?

    Enjoy this Thread Responsibly

Picked this up yesterday. It’s not expensive, it’s aged 15 years and, most importantly, it’s good! Aged in bourbon barrels, actually.

March! Yes, I expect my season to last into May, which is subliminally clouding my judgement!:p

    Plattekill Conditions

That approach, and I don’t fault Laz for taking it because it’s his business to run, is what made me a one and done on a Platty season pass, and that’s ok. Like Harvey said, don’t like it take your $$$ elsewhere. Honestly though, what mountain wants to operate late season just for pass...

    Plattekill Conditions

What’s break-even on a Platty pass, 10 days? For some around here that’s an easy number to hit, for me it wasn’t.
